you can use a usb to serial adaptor to connect your box to your laptop but you may have trouble getting it to work if your laptop runs on windows vista (compatability issues) you may be lucky and get a driver that works but i suggest getting an old desktop (i got an older dell for ?50 ,it has 2 9 pin ports and 2 usb ports and will flash any box ) with windows xp.
harky if your current computer has not got a 9 pin connection for your null modem cable, you have only 2 options . first is try and use your present computer ,which has not got the 9 pin port with a usb to serial cable (if your computer runs on vista you will have great difficulty making this work) or second is to use an older desktop computer (which will have a 9 pin port ) and will guarantee you will flash your box. i recently bought a dell desktop for €50 and it works very well and flashes any box.
i do have a desktop which got 9pin but it nt working at all as dreamup did not show "connect"
i have both xp or vista laptop.. i will try to get a 9 pin port with a usb to serial cable.. hopefully it work..

if you have a desktop computer with windows xp just connect your box to it with the null modem cable only (no need for the usb to serial adaptor ) if you only have one option com 1 then it should work straight away . if not you may need to download a different version of dreamup ,are you sure your cable is a null modem cable you need to double check that.
ya tested on desktop but it not working... for the 1st null cable but not working.
bought the converter succesful install on vista but cant connect
in my another laptop using xp it got error install the converter haha
think i go buy another cable ... Zzzzzzzzz

are you sure your cable is null modem mate either its not or its damaged , you either need to change it or buy a new one . or try downloading a different version of dreamup ,there are only a few things that can be wrong (your using the desktop so vista is not one of them ) the cable not being a null modem , using a version of dreamup that wont work with your particular box , or the com port is set wrong (but you only have 1 com port ) so thats not an issue . so you need to check the above ,if you bought the cable new and have a reciept go back and change it .
