Guide: Flashing a Dreambox with Dreamup

hi thanks piopat for your quick answer ,I've got a vista and dowloaded a driver for the usb cable (PL-2303 Driver Setup Installer, Prolific Edition) if any help.
now it work (as I 'm very new)I dowloaded this image pli-Jade-dm500-20090627-6494.img (PLi? Jade3 - for the Dreambox DM500),but when i push on the flash tape of the dreamup an error message uploade aborted?
sorry if it's very long!!
now is it a wrong image or is the cable or if I could any other image to try to flash will be great

you didnt say if your box is a dm500c (cable ) or dm500s (satellite) the image you use depends on the type of box you have ,if your box is dm500s (satellite )then you need a satellite image .as i said if your having issues with vista there is not a great deal you can do ,you could try downloading an older version of dream up maybe 2.1.1.2 and as your using the adaptor check the com in dream up ,if its set for com1 try com2 and so on .

so I've got dm 500s ,when i installed driver for the usb came under com 3,the dreamup v 1.3.3.4 connect under com 3 to the dm.and when i try to flash that image came under error.
now is there another image i should put in the dm, another issue I understand that flashing an image to the dm is like installig new system from scratch in the box?so what I should look at to start using the dm and what about this cam??

hi again ,I just tried to flash the DM with PLi? Jade3 - for the Dreambox DM500(O/S: OpenEmbedded - Enigma1),starting flashing and 49sec remaining I got the same err msg as sbu 7360 above tis with dreamup 1.3.3.4 .dreamup 1.2.1.5 says ping no ok!
please any help

some times certain versions of dream up wont work on all boxes ,dream up 1.3.3.4 is recent version try an older version and it may work ok ,i had that messsage when flashing my box allbeit a dm7020 and not a dm500 i had to try 4 to 5 versions of dream up before it worked. you can download a version of dream up from link 2 in my signature area by clicking on dreambox ,there is another version available by clicking on link 3 and then clicking on dreambox tools .

change my version to 1_3_2_1 n it flash well...

now i'm able to view the channels!!!

My dm500c has stopped working and on my tv I can see the message 'service could not be found'. Do I need to flash the box to get it back to working? Also, do I need to find the image or does it come with the DreamUp software. Sorry if this question is a bit silly, I'm a real novice and need some help to get my box working again.

as your new here you may not have heard about nagra3 (this is a new encryption method now being used on cable tv in the uk and ireland ) you first need to read the threads relating to nagra3 and find out if your area has changed over to nagra3 . if your area has changed over there is no image that will open the channels as no one has has come up with a fix . if your in the uk you should read upon the kryptview A750 and the i connector (you can also buy the new kryptview A780 ,no need for the i connector with this box as it has a lan port ) if your in ireland on ntl have a look at the starview 6 .

hi all,regarding the null modem cable may i know which type is correct?
as there are several type as listed below;

• Null modem without handshaking
• Null modem with loop back handshaking
• Null modem with partial handshaking
• Null modem with full handshaking

Hi ,just to comfirm;on DM 500s ,tried several dreamup (1-2-1-5;1-3-2-1;1-3-3-0;1-3-3-1/-2/-3/-4/-5)none of workin;the one I could flash with and has worked wasDreamup 1-3-2-1 and if anybody wants the link
DreamUP 1.3.3.2 now I 'm looking forward for some reading about to watch tv on hotbird/astra sat good luck to me ,and any help will be very grateful,or any guidence(I flashed with pli jade 3)
