Hi, yesterday was helping my friend to flash his DM 500. Tried afew time was unable to flash it.So I open up the box and found the top part of the Serial port RS232 was cut off, only left the bottem few wires. Issit normal?
dk v1.1 is an image (its the image that you flash ,an image is the free to air tv software) cccam is an emulator used for cardsharing which i cant talk about as its not allowed. mk9833 did you get any error messages (i never had a need to open a box so i cant say if certain wires are not connected) an error message like flash failed aborted by user . goofball dream up is used to flash an image to your box thats all (i explained about images above) once your box is flashed and you have scanned for channels you can then view free to air channels on a satellite dreambox, (you may not get any free to air channels on a cable box see nagra3 threads) you will need a card to open pay channels unless you get a patch or you go the cardsharing route ,again i cant speak about that as its against forum rules.
Hi currently trying to access my dreambox after a bad flash but am at a whim, have a usb serial converter and what I believe to be a null modem cable have gotten dreamup to identify the port thats being used by the usb serial port but the furthest the process has gone is where it says "Connection prepared, now switch on the dreambox", not sure what I'm doing wrong any help will be greatly appreciated
hyper turtle if your pc runs on windows vista that could be your problem (vista has compatability issues) also did you install a driver for the usb adaptor (the adaptor wont work without it) have you tried changing the com port in dream up. in truth thats reallly all that can go wrong ,i my self bought an older dell computer (for flashing boxes) that has two 9 pin serial ports (the port the null modem cable connects to) and it has two usb ports ,it does all i need it to do and all it cost was 60 euro thats about ?50 ,much better than messing about with vista.

Yes I did try everything you suggested. The usb adaptor has a driver (I tried installing various drivers; couldn't find any that were digitally signed though) the one that came with it installed. I have tried different com ports (changing the com port for the adaptor in device manager then using that port in dreamup). I am aware that there can be issues with vista, and spent yesterday trying it with Vista, Windows 7, and Windows XP mode (within windows 7), I would've tried it with Ubuntu as well but figured that was a step too far.
I'm thinking it must be a problem with the serial cable, must've been given a straight through instead of a null modem. Either that or the box is dead.
For reference sake are the numbers on the ends of the null modem cable different to those on the straight through cables
Hello, maybe I can get some help please. I have flashed dozens of dream-boxes but this one box is beating me. I have flashed several images to it but when I go to the settings in main menu, I do not get the option "Service Searching". I have copied other images from my pc that are working perfect on other boxes, but I still cannot get the "Service Searching" option. Is the tuner knackered on this box? Any help really appreciated. Thanks
