    DM500 Crossover Cable

Can't seem to get it working. Is a Cat 5e crossover cable sufficient, or would I require an RJ45 cable? Or are they 2 of the same?

    Thanks.

They are different cables m8. If your trying to connect your box to your pc via flash fxp you need a crossover cable. If you have a wireless network set up you can connect via that.

          THE TRUTH
          The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Just found I have RJ45 to RJ45 cross-over cable. I'm pinging the Dreambox 500C successfully, just going through FlashFXP and it's refusing my connection...

Go into the menu on your dreambox and check for ip address. type this into the FTP program and it should connect no problem..

              Download this

has everything you need for the dm500.

Dreambox Control Centre (DCC) is the FTP Program

I find this easier than any other ftp program.

                    IP: 192.168.0.24
                    Netmask: 255.255.255.0
                    Type: LAN
                    Nameserver: 127.0.0.1
                    Gateway: 192.168.0.1

                    Enable Network: Yes
                    Port: 80

It must be correct as theres no packet loss on ping. Maybe I should change the port to 21 on the Dreambox?
                    DCHP: Yes

I use a router so crossover a bit new to me

                          Found this though:

To make connection between your PC and Dreambox you need to make some changes on both sides. To configure Network on Dreambox, go on Setup > Expert setup > Communication setup . For IP of your dreambox put this IP : 10.0.0.2 , Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 ( Same as on PC ) , Nameserver: 10.0.0.1 , Default Gateway: 10.0.0.1 .

Now you have to go in Control Panel of your PC, Network Connections, and to put ip for your network adapter 10.0.0.1 and Same NameServer and Gateway. This is principle for Direct connection between PC and Dream, and for this type of connection you need to have crossower cable for network, but if network going trough router or switch, you can use standard network cable

Im asuming this is the same in the DCC or ftp program you use.
