DM500 Newbie! - Bought second hand box

Hey guys, looks like an interesting forum.. I just bought a 500c second hand for ?20 however it doesnt work It just shows "Service not found" or similar on all channels. I know there will be tons of tutorials out there to help me flash/update this box but would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction... is it a code I need to change or will the full thing need re-flashed

Have a read of the threads in red called 'stickies' at the top of this section.. in there you will find all the info you need to reload your box...

I imagine it was thrown to one side after the last lot of scrambling last year.

So you probable will only have to do what is found in the red stickies above

What image does it have? DK one me hopes

It does have a DK image on it, ok i FTP'd over the rom fix but my keylist.txt is empty? is this correct? there are 2 reg files call AutoRoll and AutoUpdate these files are full of keys...
I do have the latest keys from the keymaster program but im not sure where I put these 16 digit hex's
Im currently getting all the free view channels
I have not tried a rescan; will try the now and post back

Ok I have rescanned but still no luck
I also tried copying the keys into keylist but this did not work either :/ is there a specific format or something HELP

OK my friend has a DM500C also which is currently working and has been for a while (also DK image) - I had the idea of just copying all the folders ie. keys/scce from his to my one..should this work?
Cmon guys.. iv been through all the stickies,google and more, all I seem to find is about flashing - which is already done...I just need to get these keys working!

Yes it would work.... but.....

the better way would be toback up the whole working image and flash to the nonworking box. Much cleaner.

use dreamup and backup his image then flash your box with his image its easier

as stated by mettalkettle you can back up the image using dreamup, once it backed up to pc change its filetype name to .img

or copy the contents of your mate var/key and var/scce folders to yours overwriting anything that it prompts, then rescan for channels and all should be good

once you have done it and it works, phone or email the person you bought it off for ?20, and laugh all the way to free TV .

Hey guys, I have never flashed one before so I copied the keys and scce folders from my mates and hey presto!! it worked...for 4 hours :@
I got cut off late last night and my mates box hasn't why is this? I did notice his menu looked a bit different not sure if diff img or maybe just a skin..

As we said before mate the easiest way is to back up the whole working box and flash it too yours you will then have a complete copy.

Probably just different image m8.
