BER = Bit Error Rate and should be zero always. Anything other than zero means data corruption on the incoming signal.

when it searches for transponders, the BER varies in value, when it locks a transponder, the BER is Nil and then i start the scan for services - do u think the tuner is OK???

Is this a screenshot of the box in question???
Thats a sat box,if not try the updated evocam2.17 or the hypercam fix.
Personally the Jade image is a very good image and works very well but tricky when things go wrong, why not try a Cli image and see how you go.Do a flash erase first then put the Cli image on.
                Nothing to loose.

I cannot say for sure but I believe that is normal. (Sorry but I cannot be arsed to try it out).

Some of the frequencies that it tries will not have any signal which would explain a non zero BER.

OK guys i have installed a CLi image - but i have exactly the same results!! The scan can find plenty of transponders but can find no services/channels!!! What is wrong with the box - is it the tuner - if so, how easy is it to change the tuner in the boc - i see they are plug and play - any help would be appreciated

HI all, i have managed to figure out what was wrong with my dreambox. the tuner has slightly come out of the slot and therefore was giving me all of these problems. when i opened the dreambox up, i pushed the tuner back in its place and BINGO!!!!
I thought i'd write this up just in case some of you have the same problem that i did!

                            THANKS TO ALL!
