Does anyone have any screenshots showing the quality of HD using this method?

you cant stream HD content from a box that wont show HDTV on your TV screen, even the boxes that can show HD wont stream HD content very good ( there is too much information passed between the box and the PC ) therefore you will get either a very pixel ated picture or nothing at all, or if your lucky you might get a few mins before the screen crashes or goes blank.

Basically it streams the filtered MPEG transport stream out of the box via the ethernet port and can be watched over the network on a remote computer using a web-browser if you have VLC media player and it's browser plugins installed.

However most images for DM500C are dodgy to say the least when it comes to this. A mixture of bad coding and RAM bandwidth limitations can introduce errors in the stream.

Also the latest version of VLC (1.0.0+) checks MPEG2 transport streams more thoroughly and rejects ones without PMT/PAT information. You end up with a black screen with "waiting for video". Someone in the dev scene should really get to the bottom of this and fix it once and for all.
Easier said than done I imagine

do a google for the latest VLC, or i think its on here somewhere ( do a search )

then in your web browser type in your box`s IP address Like this http://192.168.1.6/?screenWidth=1440 , change to your ip address

          should open the web interface

then look for the web-x-tv link, its in small text somewhere on that first screen .

It should automatically open VLC and should start streaming to your pc.

It'll be because the DM can't process fast enough to send it. Wired 100Mbps is more than fast enough to stream HD content.

Sorry but that is not true. The DM800 we have here at work is quite happily recording 1 HD stream to a NAS while playing back another, no loss of data.

Should do, but it doesn't. The latest VLC rejects the transport stream because it has no PAT/PMT.

Exactly so basically even though it does stream the HD channel the 500c is pointless due to the quality.

interesting, i wonder if the streaming was very good quality, could you connect the pc through a HDMI output into your tv and have hd channels? i.e. with a dm800

Interesting to hear the comments on Web-X-TV streaming
Slightly off topic, I tried using a DM600 with a PLi Jade image and it was frustratingly temperamental- sometimes worked, more often didn't. I upgraded to the latest PLi Jade image a couple of months back and it works more consistently, but still a bit flaky.
Might have to get another slingbox to stream the signal around the house.
