    Configuring a Fresh Image.

What I want to do is to be able to take a vanilla unmodified image and configure it for my personal use.

I download the Pli DM600 PVR image and install it.
Copy my cables.xml to var\tuxbox and complete a scan.
    Using Devilfish's Keys.rar I copy the files to usr\keys
    I symlink the usr\keys with var\tuxbox\scce
Using the Blue button I download evocam2.13
I select the cam and start it.

Is there anything else or is this the guts of it?

Is the procedure more or less the same for Gemini images? I want to be able to play with the different images.

    Thanks for any guidance.

Ensure you have the correct Nagra roms.

I always put my cables.xml file into var/etc. Once you have got the Pli working exactly as you want use dreamboxedit to backup your bouquets and also you could backup your keys & scce folder to your pc. Now that you have these items backed up you can than flash any image you like as you will be up and running in minutes.

Thanks Ebro - the roms are part of Devilfish's keys.rar.

Thanks Curious123, right again about the cables.xml location, my mistake. I want to ensure that the procedure is correct though, and that all the basics are covered.
        so again in more detail.

        1. Download the Pli DM600 PVR image and install it. (dream up, or bootloader method)
        2. Copy my cables.xml to var\etc and complete a scan.
        3. Using Devilfish's Keys.rar I copy the files to usr\keys (including roms)
        4. I symlink the usr\keys with var\tuxbox\scce
        5. Using the Blue button I download evocam2.13 (or other stable evocam)
        6. I select the cam and start it. (wait a couple of minutes if needed.)
        7. Create/Backup Bouquets/services/cables.xml with Dreamboxedit.

        How's that sound?

Not sure if Df will want to be known by his keys. . I would use Evoamd 2.14 rather than 2.13. After you have loaded the software you need to do a scan than you need to switch to S*y Spots1 until it clears than use dreamboxedit to import your bouquets to your pc and re-arrange your channels...

heh heh, I would only be complimenting him on this minor contribution among his other momentus ones!

I'll give 2.14 a lash in comparison to 2.13 and see how I get on. Thanks for the tips. I'll be happy when I get started!

            Cheers

u dont have to symlinc usr/keys with /var/tuxbox/scce with the dm600 u can simply put your keys in /usr/keys and roms in /usr/scce if the folders arent there just create them and put ur stuff in jobs done BUT with pli u can put your roms in /etc/tuxbox/scce if u desire anyother image just stick to /usr

              cheers

                  Hi Faddy,

Have a read of the first post here -> http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ead.php?t=1496

Cables.xml is dependent on where in the world you are. There are some for the UK and one at least for Ireland.

Symlink is a command to create a symbolic link between muliple locations. What it does in this instance is to make the etc\tuxbox\scce folder redirect to usr\keys so anything you put in usr\keys can be seen by both locations.

The symlink command entered using telnet. You can copy the line below and paste it in.

                  ln -sf /usr/keys/* /etc/tuxbox/scce/

                  Cheers

Sounds like a pretty sane process Saruman.

The default cables.xml might work for you, you'll know when you connect to the TV and scan for services, if you get nothing, then you need an appropriate cables.xml for your region.

                        Cheers

The cables.xml file will most likely not work for you, it will be for German cable.

But good thread....nice learning for peeps in here and good help from the gurus.

Oh yeh, and they're not my keys, I just found them while browsing on the internet!
