DM500 Help please. No Transponders on scan

Hi guys,
Dreambox 500c arrived today. Was advertised as no channels. He wasn't kidding - I can't even get BBC.
Been at it all day and tried old DW 1.65 image, manually entering keys and v2, 2.1 and the new DK1. Tried all kinds of methods, mainly flash ftp to copy keys and scce but no joy. Also tried Flashwizard Pro 6.3.
Everything goes well up to the point where I do a transponder Scan. I have tried Bruteforce,6952 and they both come up with the message "All known transponders have been tried but no lock was possible"

Does it lock onto any transponders at all?,, what does the snr agc ber readings give you during scan? make sure your feed is ok, and direct line, and watch your connection between feed and box...

I wouldn't even begin to fiddle around with keys and roms until you've got a stable signal with free to air channels working as expected. One step at a time.

if u r using a slitter take it out m8 and just use the first feed point .. and u have got the cable feed in the rf and not the aerial one , just in case u have the wrong type of f connector

Same connection works Dbox perfectly. No transponders at all. During scan bars go to about 70 percent and fall again, finaly showing the message I quoted

What would be the very first step then. A complete erase perhaps?

sounds like the image is ok ? weak turner on the 500 ? r u using a splitter then

I am disconnecting from Dbox and using that main feed. I have flashed a couple of boxes before and had no problems.

Is there a basic road I should be taking to establish why I am not getting free to air channels. Just guessing here but maybe factory reset followed by stable image upload then scan?

Just read on hear, someone who had to scan 8 times to get certain channels....
