    No sky1 DM500C

Hi, im having trouble picking up sk1 on my dreambox, i can pick up every other channel, except sky1.

Im on dk v. 1.1 image. I've tried every scan, but no luck, disconnected all coax and reconnected, nothing.
I've got a eurovox in my living room, and it picks up sky1. I don't know what to do now.

Does anyone have the manual PID's for sky1?

    Please help!! Thanks in advance.

You should be able to use the eurovox to find out the frequency & symbol rate for the transponder containing Sky 1. (Which will be unique to your cable area)

Then on the dreambox use the remote, press Menu->Setup->Service Searching->Manual Transponder Scan

This dialog box opens and add the frequency & symbol rate from your Eurovox and press "start scan"

        500C and sky 1

I've seen this problem. Sky1 is at the bottom end frequency range (131MHz) and the DM500 is not great at that frequency. You will probably find the signal is too low and your box is not seeing it. If you use a booster to increase the signal level it will probably be ok.

thanks for reply, will try the PID's if not, does this mean i have to buy a booster? i pick up every channel, except sky1, i dont want to buy a booster just for 1 channel.

was just reading this post as i have the same problem with sky one, my signal is at 96% cant see a booster would do much

Assuming you used the correct frequency & symbol rate for your area, your receiver is not capable of getting that transponder. Perhaps the signal is too weak or too strong or has interference.

The first thing to try is to follow the cable back to the wall and remove the Y-Splitter and try the cable direct. If that does not work you need to try a variable attenuator in case the signal is too strong or has interference.

              Finally try an amplifier.

PIDs are useless unless you know which transponder frequency to use. Do you? Are you going to try each one? You'll be at it for weeks.

Sky1 is not on a transponder on it's own. You must have other missing channels, perhaps obscure ones or +1 ones.

Try buying an attenuator. This way you can vary the signal strength. I think 96% is a bit high.

Search this in ebay. You want a 0-20db gain attenuator.

                Cable TV Attenuator

This will solve your problem no end.

Not at all. Mine ranges from 95% to 98%.

Still if removing the splitter from the cable doesn't help (just while you tune in), try an attenuator first, much cheaper than an Amplifier.

Yes but it wont register too strong a signal therefor an amplifier would be useless.

Hence the reason i suggested an attenuator.

so if i purchase a variable attenuator will this fix my problem?

Depends if this is your problem and not user error.

                        Worth a try.
