You will have to FTP magic files to key & scce folders on your
    box to clear encrypted chls.
If your area has gone to nagra 3 chls. will not clear.

try using dreambox control center to ftp files to your box but make sure you
have correct ip of your box entered in the configuration settings in dcc.
you should use a lan crossover cable to connect ethernet port on box to lan socket on pc

Cheers andy i don't have an ethernet crossover, just the normal patch cable is it a must that i use the lan port and crossover cable? i thought i only needed to use one or the other?

You need to use ethernet cable to use ftp. If you have got a router then you can use a normal ethernet cable.

connect the dreambox to the router with a standard (not crossover ) network patch lead.

Then, gointo the dreambox settings, into network settings and enable DHCP. Restart the box and it should pick up an IP.

You can confirm this on some routers as it displays what devices it's issued IP addresses to, you can see these on the routers config page somewhere.

hey i m not a pro on this thing..

did u try to use telnet step..?
                      ----------------------------------------
connect the dreambox to the router
                      plug on the dreambox
On your dreambox settings, into network settings and enable DHCP. (for me i did not restart) just make sure u see the IP and light is green (it should mean detected)

                      follow the use telnet step......

                      ----------------------------------------
if u r using vista i think got some problem... as i try on my vista got some issue but on XP no problem

first things first, we need more info.

                        1) IF you have a normal patch lead - connect to router, set it to DHCP , reboot now go check it's IP. does it have one?

                        2) IF you have a cross over patch lead connect straight to the PC, disable DHCP, give it a static ip like 192.168.1.10 then on the PC disable DHCP on the network card and set it's ip to 192.168.1.11

OK WHICH HAVE YOU DONE? everything you've done so far tells me it hasn't got it's IP address yet - you can't do anything till u get to this point.

Ok. i have connected my dreambox to my router with a normal ethernet patch cable, loaded up dcc, checked the router connetion type and done a search on search for ip address DREAMBOX. It finds 2 ips that are 192.168.0.1 < (i'm assuming this is the router) and 192.168.0.101 < (i'm assuming this is the dreambox) so i've entered 192.168.0.1 in the router address box and 192.168.0.101 in the dreambox address, pc address is 192.168.0.100 i then click connect and it i get the following error message: dreambox login failed, Error 10057 in function send. Socket is not connected

open a command prompt ( Start > Run > cmd press enter) and type

ping 192.168.0.101 and press enter - does it get a reply?
