DM800 Secondstage Bootloader (antifreeze) - No more freezing

I posted a couple of weeks ago, and received great help from here getting a friends DM800 running.

I now have it back again 'cause he says it keeps freezing and the only way to get it going again is to pull the plug.

After lots of searching and reading on the internet it appears to be a fairly common problem. It doesn't seem to be image or cam related.

Dreambox have released a "secondstage loader" which is nicknamed antifreeze!!

Boot the box holding the power on button, it then displays its ip address. Use your fav web browser to browse to the box and flash the secondstage nfi. Its fairly instant as its only 165k.
Reboot and away you go.

Early days but it has been running non stop on BBCHD for about three hours now. Not bad as it was locking up about every fifteen minutes before.

Hope its of some use to someone.

Just a quick update from my first post.

If you reflash with another image it puts the second stage bootloader back to version 60. If you want to keep that image then you will need to flash the bootloader-62 again. (attached to first post)

It seems that these images all contain a bootloader and I think that the only one at the moment with the 'antifreeze' bootloader is LT-fifth SP2.
That image also contains the latest code from Dream dated 20080912.

I've got it running at the moment so we'll see how it goes.

Im a newbie. The new Hd Dreambox howmany Hd channels can you receive on Virgin?

Does this enhance or upscale the Sd chanels picture at all?

Thanks for the fix, I never had any problems with my DM800, but I have always used the latest LT image.

Yip upscales the pic to up to 1080i, much improved picture over DM500 on my Plasma, and slightly improved on my LCD (Both HD TVs)

As Parisno says, only one channel at the mo, BBCHD. To be honest it doesn't show much content either. Has rolling previews in the day, then in the evening it shows some hd programmes. Quality is superb though.

Lots of talk of lots more to come so bit of a waiting game.

I'm waiting for the dm8000 so I can have a sat tuner as well as cable and get the best of both worlds.

There's now a b/loader #67 which you can pull directly from dream - h**p://dreamboxupdate.com/opendreambox/1.5/dm800/images/secondstage-67.

You may already have this, just check the screen as it boots and it'll say "Boot #60" 62 or 67.

I've also attached it and is updated in the same way as the 62.

i cant open and view this file on winrar at all and also where does it go in your dreambox 500c im confused does it go to some file when it opens ftp for example like etc,keys,scce these kind of folders or where else?

HI there, it's installed in the same way you would an image. It won't overwrite your image (but best make a backup before you make a change) :-)

I remember seeing instructions on getting the DM into a debug startup by telnetting into it, running a few commands then, as it restarts, logging in via browser to upload this new bootloader. Not sure if you'd also be able to use DreamUP to get this installed.

Sorry if this sounds scrappy, I'll try and find the original post and all will become clear !!

nope it aint the same it wont let me even find the folder like images are images files but this is a zip it dont find that iw dont open with winrar nor does it find winrar with dreamup?
