I use Gemini 4.2 with the VLC Frontend Plug-in.
Is this Plug-In compatible with DK images?

If so you could try that?

People seem to have problems with it, but it works a treat for me!

          Hi Smirnoff,

Yes it lets me play AVI's direct from my mac.
In fact it lets me play anything VLC plays. (avi, wmv, mov etc)

You can even set up what are called server sets. This allows you to play movie files from up to 4 different locations on your PC.

You have to have VLC running on your PC for it to work and there is some initial set up.

I used this guide to set it up on my Mac.

How to DBox - VideoLAN Wiki

(Hope it was OK to post this!!)

I use it all the time. I can just play my DVDrips etc straight through my dreambox.

Yeah it streams the file as you watch.
              It takes about 20 - 30 seconds to load a 700mb file.

You can pause, rewind and fast forward once it's up and running.

It works really well if like me you have loads and loads of films in avi format.

lv used somthing close but the one l used converted to a file as u watch . so if the converter was slow u would get to a place where u had to wait . so l gave up

No it doesn't create a file it just streams it through HTTP (Port 8080 I think)
You should give it a try!

Like I said before I'm not sure if it is compatible with DK images but it should be. Gemini and DK images are both Enigma based aren't they??

I could try to get it from the Gemini server if you'd like?

                    Heres the plugin's.

the update file in each plugin, will need editing to the DK IMG. (File structure is different) plugin folder

I've zipped them up to a RAR file

                    1, vlcf.tar.gz
                    2, movieplayer.tar.gz

if lm converting a film and watching it seems to stop and start if u know wot l mean , say the conversion takes longer than the film takes to watch

OK been playing with this, Installed VLC frontend, you need to install manually and conf is done through the web interface.

errors do show untill web interface is configured

Not getting to far just yet, but haven't the time at present.... got a feeling it need the vlc plugin also.

But i'm having problems getting this to work correctly.

                          will try again the tomorrow.

                          Added more plugins

                          1, VLC.tar.gz
                          2, Jukebox.tar.gz

just in case some else may want to have play also.

                              Hi all,

I'm not too sure how set up on DK differs from Gemini but if I can help in anyway I can.

When using the Gemini image, once the plugin is installed it is a case of altering the VLCF Original.xml file in var/tuxbox/config (I hope that's the right path! I'm at work so I can't double check)

Once the.xml file is set up to your PC's IP Address and the server set path is altered to look in the correct place on your PC. It is just a case of making sure VLC on your PC is open and setup as per the guide I posted.

Hope this helps! Like I said if I can help I will!!
