    Hard drive for DM600c pvr

    Hi Guy's I've got a 80gb hard drive from an old laptop that was upgraded to 160gb if I put in the dreambox will it wipe out the windows xp that was installed on it when it formats?

    i have a 7025 and i can format the hard drive so i assume you will be able too

      I reckon it will mate, the disk needs to be formatted by the dreambox's linux based OS (ubuntu I believe) as a linux partition (ext3). So if you need anything on it be sure to back it up to something first..

      I find that an average recorded film take about 2gig of disk space, so its best to shove in the biggest you can get, i use a 250gig western digital. I think that was the biggest ide 2.5inch drive available at the time..

        Yes you will lose your xp image. 80gig will be plenty for most recordings. I copy anything I want to keep over to my pc, and either burn to DVD, or leave on the pc, for playback via the dream mount.

          Guy's just noticed the hard drive is EIDE will that make a difference or is it the same as IDE?
