Hi Guy's I've got a 80gb hard drive from an old laptop that was upgraded to 160gb if I put in the dreambox will it wipe out the windows xp that was installed on it when it formats?
I reckon it will mate, the disk needs to be formatted by the dreambox's linux based OS (ubuntu I believe) as a linux partition (ext3). So if you need anything on it be sure to back it up to something first..
I find that an average recorded film take about 2gig of disk space, so its best to shove in the biggest you can get, i use a 250gig western digital. I think that was the biggest ide 2.5inch drive available at the time..
Yes you will lose your xp image. 80gig will be plenty for most recordings. I copy anything I want to keep over to my pc, and either burn to DVD, or leave on the pc, for playback via the dream mount.
