      paste this into your web browser http://192.168.1.7/?screenWidth=1280

      change the ip above to the one thats on your dreambox . or change the dreambox IP to the same as above.

              what happens when you put that in your web browser, make sure your crossover cable is direct between dreambox and laptop.

                  Cable is direct from lappy to box mate.When i enter the box's ip addy In address bar of either firefox or ie7 i get the "connecting bar" then the page turns white with the message "the server at 10.0.0.97 is taking too long to respond".That is it.

                  I did borrow my nieces remote but she has since gone home and taken it back with her otherwise she wont be able to use her box.

                      I'm running xp pro sp3.
                      The image came pre-loaded on the box,and sorry,i don't know which it is.
                      My niece lives out of town so could take a while to get the remote.I could borrow my mates but i'lll have to wait until my mate gets in from work.
                      My net setup is - direct cable connection but the laptop is connected wirelessly.
                      When my mate gets home (around an hours time) i'll change the box's ip and see if that makes any difference.

                            good, now then, your on a wireless network, so all you need to do is put the cable from the box to your wireless router. not into your laptop, you could but we try to keep it simple

                            change the IP of the box to 192.168.1.7

                            enter this in your web browser

                            box should appear asking for username/password

                            username = root
                            password = dreambox

                            that depends on what image you using. you can tell what image your using if you re boot your dreambox and take note of the picture screen that appears while booting up.

                              Problem is that the router is upstairs in the spare bedroom and the box is downstairs in the front room and i don't have a long enough cable to reach .
                              I think i had better go with the changing of the box's ip when i can get hold of my mate.
                              Not tried to connect with dcc or flas xp -will try and post back.
