    Problems Flashing DM500C

Hi i am having problems flashing a DM500C with DreamUP when i follow the flash process i do get the box type: DM500 but i do not get the Ping result: OK, box is alive and speaking to us ;-)
The box in question did have a image on it which i reflashed only for the flash to fail,so i am in limbo land.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

quick one mate ,when you open dreamup you dont still have the power onto the dreambox by any chance? dreambox should be off ,open dreamup ,then where it says connect ,click. then it will tell you to plug in power to box

Thanks, but see this is it, all of my previous boxes have flashed fine, they have all been powered down prior to connection and only i power up when asked to do so,i have done quiet a few now but this one is playing up bigtime..
Although it partially talks to the DM ie box type: DM500 information ,it doesn't ping, and then tells me connection is prepared, now switch on dreambox...never had this before.
It's brand new so if there is no fix it will have to be returned
I don't wanna have to Jtag it...
Is it a lost cause and needs to be returned ?

Without knowing what the DM500C ip address is i thought this would have been virtually impossible as the box was set to DHCP prior to failure ?

I did try the most common previously used ip addresses but ftp couldn't detect the box's ip, i had assigned.

flashwizard isnt capable of recovring a box needing serial flashed!
only dreamup will solve your mess if the box is in a un-bootable state

bet your problem lies with a usb>serial adapter driver.

I thought of that possibility too, so connected via a serial port on another laptop still no joy.

However i have not tried a earlier version of dreamup maybe i will give that a go.

I will also re-install the usb-serial adapter drivers again.

                  Thanks

you say your using a usb/serial adapter ?

have you installed the drivers for it. ?

i put a guess on it you need to have the right com port setting, i recently got one and the default com port was com9. You could give that a try m8, and try a 1 or 2 different versions of dreamup.

or go into your device manager settings, and look for your usb adapter, right click on it then choose properties, you should get an option to change the com port to com1 .

dont forget in dreamup, to set the com port in there.

Thanks aftermath, unfortunately i have done everything you have suggested quiet a few times now... but it just doesn't want to know.

I am also finding i lose the power light after a few minutes of powering it up, but the amber network light is visible all the time if plugged in to the ethernet port as normal.
