HELP PLEASE!!!

My dbox 500 is driving me mad now, flashed a new image off another site with the new fix via a null modem cable to no avail.

So now been pulling my hair out trying to FTP the new fix.

This is my set up:

Wireless router- Netgear IP address 192.168.0.1

Laptop - connected to net via wireless connex to router - IP 192.168.0.2

Dbox - plugged into main and ethernet cable from the back of dbox into a free port into the back of the router.

Boot up FLASHfxp and input the IP of the dbox which i got when it was connected to the tv through the expert setup menu etc as 192.168.0.24

username:root
password:dreambox

when i press connect all i get is Connection failed.

Mate I think your ip address of the box could be out of range.

Change the address of the box (just use the remote to do this) to 192.168.0.3 and try again.

the remote will not highlight the ip addy of the box it only moves to the tick box DHCP, LAN, enable netwrok, save and mounts

Remove the tick from DHCP and reset it after that mate.

Forget flashxppro seen so many people have problems. Download a proggie called Coreftp and use that to ftp files to your dreambox. It works just like Windows explorer so pretty easy to master.

problem is, no matter what i try, filezilla/flash.. i am not getting any connection

do i need to plug my laptop via ethernet to the router aswell? even though its wirelessly connected to the router.

Do you have a crossover cable running from your laptop to your dreambox because that what you will need to get them talking to one another. Alternatively you can use a patch or crossover cable running from your router to the dreambox but you must have them rigged up with a cable.

link yer pc ..laptop what ever direct to yer box...
remove the router.

If he removes the tick than he needs to give it a static ip address. Have you tried pinging the ip address of your dreambox?

no crossover from laptop to dbox

but i have a cross patch plugged from dbox into back of router

this is honestly nuts...losing the will to live.

If he removes the tick than he needs to give it a static ip address. Have you tried pinging the ip address of your dreambox?

i removed the tick, chanded the ip addy and then reticked the DHCP box

Your problem is that you have no cable connection between your laptop and dreambox. Given that you have a connection from your router to the dream why dont you ftp via your pc (or am i missing something?) What you have done with your address is fine.

but if i am connected to the router ( laptop is ) wirelessly and then the dbox is connected to the same router via a ethernet... is that not a connex?
