    loading kernel

I tried to reflash my dbox using ftp and flasfxp, however after this I have had the loading kernel message. I tried using IFA with Xover cable and with various IP settings including 1 away from the automatic setting that IFA assigns the dbox. I am at a loss as to how to get it going again, could it be the box is damaged beyond repair?

Very unlikely , it`s probably just a bad flash. Are you getting the Kien Sytsem message on the screen.

What type of box is it and what image did you use?

I had commando's latest on it but could only get fta channels. I retried lincsat beta 7 image and reflashed it and since then have been getting loading kernel upon boot up. The box is a Nokia. Cheers

I have a Sagem myself and found Lincsat`s image very unstable. I am now using \/irgin lite 2.1 and find that image very stable. Is the Lincsat image you are using a 2x (chip) as Nokia`s are all 2x and a 1x image will flash onto the box but it will give you a Kein (No) System message upon restarting the box.

It was the 2 chip image that I used, i am not getting the kein system message, just the loading kernel upon boot up. I cant reflash using ftp but have tried IFA and not having any joy. I have used IFA before albeit a while ago but i'm doing all the same things and still not working.

Strange one m8, I personally have never had a problem with IFA. Maybe do a search of all the threads in this section with the word`s Loading Kernal. I am sure someone will have had this problem before, but it`s a new one to me I`me afraid.

EDIT: When using IFA I normally connect the Dbox to the pc with the Dbox off. Open up IFA, select the image I want to flash and press start. IFA say`s your sytem will be prepared for the flashing process and then I turn the Dbox on and away it go`s.

Thanks anyway mate. I've tried all posts but most say just to use IFA and that sorts everything but not this time, I get to the point with IFA where you power box back up but then screen remains blank. I dont know if using another image would help. i've been trying it with laky's sylas.

Yes. Firewall turned off, dont use any antivirus software, theyre overrated.

Are you useing the null modem cable ? if you are what does it say in ifa window, if your not useing null cable then try holding the up and standby button on the box for a couple of seconds and release to reboot untill ifa picks up the box , has been known to have to do this upto 50 times .

I am using the null modem cable and the ethernet cable. When i click start on IFA i get the dialog box which has an ok prompt informing you to hit ok and then power up box, after this nothing.

had a look there, nothing there that I haven't tried. I'm at a loss here as I have done this before using IFA and got it ok.

Yes, again when I connected the null modem to com2 to communicate I got nothing but a blank screen. I've been into device manager and checked usb serial adapter is working properly as I'm working from a laptop
