dbox stuck on first screen

i have a dbox2 ,fixing for a mate , when i fire it up , it shows sportster on screen , and on dbox it shows loading kernel but nowt else happens. dont know the ip of the box , its a nokia 2 chip , at 1 point it says on the dbox lcd , image dbox (Gzip compressed). Doing my head in! tried various progs with no success. Anyone with any idea what to do ?

If you can't get ip of box, then best thing is to flash another image using IFA.

tried it bulldog , having no joy whatsover , thing being even if i get a new image on box , cant get to menu to tell it to set up.

IFA internet flash assistant available in downloads. Just connect with xover cable load image and turn box on and it will flash image to box.

Had this problem with a sportster image before, had to leave it loading for about an hour. But if it you get fed up of waiting, put another image on.

have never left it loading that long Ianlo , may leave it for a few hours see if it fires up , then get ip and change image , does any of you guys no the combination of wires to cut and join , to make an ordinary patch cable to a crossover?

M8 you dont need the ip with IFA. Just connect the xover cable. Save yourself the hassle. Flash a new image it will be done in 10 mins.

would agree bulldog ,but only have a normal cable here at the moment , dont think ianleo,s
idea will work , as it keeps turning itself off then trys to load the kernel in again!

You have a null modem m8 ? You can flash using just this but it takes around an hour.

Ok m8 IFA takes about 10 minutes.You connect xover cable and null modem IF you got you've got one, but you don't always need it. Turn off firewalls andload image in IFA turn off dbox and press start in IFA, THEN TURN DBOX ON. If it doesnt say flashing on the led right away turn it off and start again.Sometimes you need to try a couple of times.

Alternative method is to flas using ONLY a null modem.This takes around an hour and theres a guide in the downloads , how to do this.
Really m8 IFA should work.Try again a few times, you'll get there in the end. BTW give your ethernet card an ip address rather than let it obtain one. IE 192.168.1.101
I always find IFA works first time when the ethernet card is given an ip.

New to forums but used dbox's a while Bulldog is bang on read some of his answers before if I don't know an IP address or have problems with a box I always use Dbox bootmanager it always gets there in the end

try flashing different a few different images m8, also rather than waiting for a couple of hours,keep powering off and on, or push the standby button + up arrow button together to reset the back to try getting IFA connected. If you have no luck with IFA then flashing with a null modem cable only may be your only option. Might be worth getting a boot log and getting one of the more experienced members to cast their eye over it
