Satellite options coming up after location set?

Hi, I've flashed quite a few dbox2's but I have a problem with one where I get satellite options appear in the service scan menu after I set my location? This means it wont scan becaue its trying to use satellite and dish options like Discqe - any help would be greatly appreciated!

The box is a Noika and the same issue is happening with commando 9 & 10!

No mate, def a cable tuner with the normal push in co-ax type plugs - it say "anntenae" too? Never come accross this problem - was wondering if there are any options I could change within the images or the box itself to only be in "cable mode" if you get my drift, LOL

You get that with a faulty cable tuner too, they default back to satellite mode.

If you are sure it's a cable box, i.e. no screw on tuner connection, then the tuner is gubbed.

When the box boots up, it tries to communicate with the tuner - "are you there", "yes I'm a cable tuner", "ok I'll load all cable menus". If it can't communicate with the tuner, it assumes it's a satellite tuner so if the tuner is knackered, that might be why the satellite options are appearing.

          Or it's a satellite box .

Is there any way to establish whether it is the tuner or even remove the satellite functionality? Cheers!

Thanks mate, in the servicescan menu I also get the netid, freq, symbol rate as you would expect but where I would normally get bruteforce, I get dish options. These options only appear after I set location for fast scan - I tried entering manually for my location but no joy? - I did get a scan when the options "disappeared" earlier but no luck since!!! Go to /var/tuxbox/config and delete the scan.conf file. Then unplug the box, don't shutdown. Wait 30 secs and plug back in, see what option you have then.

Let's have your NetID, Frequency and SymRate- and I'll up a harmonised cables.xml and scan.conf for you to try, m8.

If that doesn't work- then your tuner might need the 3 leg tranny replacing (not a job for the faint-hearted!).

                  Cheers- AL

Here you go, m8. Unrar and FTP to the folders indicated inside the rar file, overwriting existing. No chmod changes needed.

Cold Boot the dbox, by switching off at the mains, then back on again. Then see what the Scan does for you.

The new scan.conf is customized for your Location, and the cables.xml is a cut-down version for TW only. The important thing to note is that the providers name in each match one another.

                          Cheers- AL

Cheers Al, will give them a go - if it fails to work I I will obtain a bootlog from the box as suggested by Fergal.
