    yes the cam is in the box, yes i got the latest i think (dvb2000 Beta 8) but dunno if its the uk one or not???
    I tried 4110 as the frequency (got it from a services.xml file from the working dbox2) and sym 6952, pressed 9, still the same - immediatly i get 'Error: no sig' it dont even appear to try and search.

    i done menu>9>2 and even put the settings on there, then pressed 0. I got lines covering the top half of the display until i press menu. Still no cigar.

      OK another forum says that the frequency is simply wrong. Does anyone what frequency i should use for the Basildon area using a Telewest/Virgin Media signal? I been through everyone in the services.xml fire and no luck so far.

          Wow, i tried 4910 and got this in a list:

          bbc one
          bbc two
          bbc news
          bbc radio kent
          bbc one

          Seems good so far, i a lot happier now.
          What other frequency can i use to get a different set of channels?

            <transponder id="0385" onid="f020" frequency="491000000" inversion="2" symbol_rate="6952000" fec_inner="3" modulation="3">
            <channel service_id="0e75" name="BBC ONE" service_type="01"/>
            <channel service_id="0e76" name="BBC TWO" service_type="01"/>
            <channel service_id="0e78" name="BBC News" service_type="01"/>
            <channel service_id="0e7d" name="BBC Radio Kent" service_type="02"/>
            <channel service_id="0e80" name="BBC ONE" service_type="01"/>
            </transponder>
            Thats in the services.xml file, not sure why the other frequencies dont work. Is there a way to just scan through all frequencies?

              Check in your dbox2 service.xml file and use each transponder/frequency that has a list of channels underneath you will have to scan each transponder/frequency
              ie: 370750 becomes 3707
              add any channels found on each frequency to the channel line up

                Will do, i just started using the ones below the section i posted above. They all seem to work. Some channels say FTA and they work, others say CRD, im guessing that means CARD which means they are encrypted and I need a CAM? I got a CAM installed in the box but no idea how to use it. Any suggestions?

                  u need a funcard programmed with a suitable img and edit it with the latest kys....this goes into the cam which has to be a multicam flashed with the amon chip

                  just for future reference is the sym 6952 or 0695

                    The sym is 6952 for anyone having the same problems as i was having. So the CAM has to be taken out of the box, connect to pc via funcard programmer, updated with latest keys, and then reinserted into the dbox each time they change the keys which get changed about twice a day?

                      no as long as the cam is the right one thats stays in the box u need a funcard and a programmer....u program the funcard add the keys and u will only need to reprogram the card when the kys roll....sometimes weeks / months between rolls. put the card into the cam

                        Thought the keys get rolled daily now ???
                        Right, do you mean one of these?

                        Because if so, I think i have one someone from years and years ago.

                        Also, they just have Atmel chips on, and i remember making a funcard programmer a while back when i got into AVR programming.

                        So i can just take the avr chip from a funcard, and connect it to an Atmel AVR Dragon programmer yes? Otherwise, would a standard USB GemPlus reader/writer work?

                          Ah right, My CAM is a BetaTV, no slot for a smartcard to fit into, not entirely sure what its used for. I'll look into buying a proper CAM.

                          Just curious, does anyone know what the BetaTV CAM is for?
