I did do the updrade first each time AL

As I said in post #7, #9, & #14, but for some reason it went a bit pear shaped after that,
& I did your post #12, hdd + ext2 add-ons like you told me, as I said in post #14.

Anyway I got there in the end

    Thanks, Ian

C'mon you 'orrible lot- let's be having some Feedback to relay to Freddyfr0g, please!

Those of you who've upgraded - what EPG Mode are you running? Is it now nice and stable for you?

Just out of interest, if you switch the Infobar SysMon feature on- include your Free RAM and Free Space figures in your EPG feedback, please.

      Cheers- AL

The EPG is superb as usual AL.

I have only tried 1 of the 4 choices: (7 Day EPG on channels 1-60), & you get exactly that,
1 whole week of programs showing on the first 60 channels...

Just switched the "Infobar SysMon feature on" that also works well,
        Showing on mine: (RAM:4508k Space:2116k)

        Thanks, Ian

SysMon refreshes every 60 secs and can appear to look low (like yours) thanks to a recent msgbox pop-up (which snatches 2.4MB of RAM in the short time it's active). Check again a few times over the next 5 mins, just to see if RAM stabilizes at a higher figure, m8.

If it stays where it is, and bearing in mind you have HDD installed, I'd consider dropping back to the Enhanced VM EPG Mode (3 Days max)- which uses much less memory resources.

In your own case, bearing in mind your posts above, I'd also recommend you FTP into the dbox and carry out a thorough search for any 'rogue' tarballs that might have been sent to the wrong folders in error... These would adversely impact Free Space, of course.

          Cheers- AL

Sagem X2. evocamd and 0001 for general watching, changing to 0014 for recording. 0001 is more stable than 0014 but does still stick a little, nothing new on this box, i'm used to it. i've installed Gbox Cam but if i turn off Evo screen freezes within seconds, guess i've not done something i need to. RAM 7840 Space 1580 using Enhanced VM EPG (3day epg on filtered).

installed Add-ons CIFS File System, EPG Filter Wizard, Tuxbox Commander, Tuxtex, Tuxweather and YWeb. also ran the avia trim script to strip avia 500 driver.

does memory look about right or should i search for junk?

p.s. the Image is superb, love the Update functionality

              Yes AL,
it did change a few times & seems to be allmost equal after a while @ (RAM:2652k SPACE:2216k), are both of those amounts meant to = the total ram you have?

Have not checked Ftp for rogue tarballs yet, but did install a few add-on goodies: yWeb, infobar & EPG filter @ around 700kb total..

Do you know if it possible for people with HDD installed, to make use of the HDD & have the (EPG stored directory) on the there to free up the main memory resources, or is that not worth it..

              Thanks- Ian

OK, dalcan- if you installed g*box via that C11.3 g*box support pack that's floating around the web, this is totally incompatible with this upgrade and will damage it! If this is the case, then first, undo your tinkering by forcing another online update. You can do this by editing the top line of /var/etc/version.xml back to 11.3.07 (instead of the 11.3.08 that it's reading now).

After the image is back to where it should be...

Attached is a plugin I found, for switching from evo to g directly on the Blue button menu. Extract the plugin files from the attached RAR to the folders indicated. Only the .cfg file stays chmod 644 - the other two files are both 'executables', so you MUST chmod both of them to 755 - OK?

Then go Services > Reload Plugins and see what you have under the Blue button!! This is a much better way of handling your requirements, as meddling with the image itself would work (eventually), but you'd be frightened to update ever again!

*** Note to the DK-Mods: attachment is a plugin and associated script only; no cams, roms nor keys are contained therein (which is why it's only 3.9kb, LOL!) ***

Clarification: This is an unofficial anonymous third-party bolt-on, not endorsed, supported, nor condoned by Team-Commando. It is intended for testing and educational purposes only. This plugin is only for use with evocamd; it would need modifying to work with mgcamd.

With all the stuff you've added (inc 300k of g*box) - your RAM and Space appear acceptable.

                Cheers- AL

That's better! I was concerned about your original RAM reading so low. Free RAM and Free Space are two seperate entities, which is why LraiZer displays both items.

Previous incarnations of Freddy's sectionsd were eating into the RAM too much and causing all those strange side effects. Thanks to LraiZer's input, we now understand the RAM issue much better- and (hopefully) all four EPG modes should be stable...

You can use the HDD to cache EPG, but this acts as a secondary source to grab the data from, if the dbox is rebooted for example. EPG will still be stored in dbox RAM as well, so there's probably little point in bothering...

                  Cheers- AL

Al, i'm away for a week so wont get chance to try this right now but i really appreciate the help. will give it a blast when i get back. tbh things appear to have settled down under Evocamd, only lasky-sylas ever ran anything close to this smooth (current commando is better). if i don't start recording RAM is up to 11,392k. I will do as suggested and feedback but more than happy with things as they are. Oh by the way, i subscribe to the max vm package (ex movies/sport), i'm new on this board so just a hello to everyone else (everyone calls me DC btw)

                      latest update!

The latest Commando 11.3.09 Update is now in post #3 above, guys. It includes LraiZer's latest LCD-EPG coding, so this actually works properly now, soon after a reboot or bringing the box out of Standby, without having to fiddle with the R/C etc. Thanks, LraiZer (again) !!

Also attached in post #3 is a new file: cosmetics.rar - an alternative set of LCD Clock Fonts to play with, plus LraiZer's new rectangular 3D Colour buttons for the Menus! See the little readme included, please!

                      Enjoy! Cheers- Renny and AL

                        Thanks AL...

Will have a look @ that later, still playing with my hard drive settings @ the mo :-)

Coz every time I try & do a recording, the lipsync goes way out. (about 2 seconds after the action)
The memory goes right down to (RAM:352k SPACE:1016k) & the channel then freezes.

Think it might be time to get rid of the hard drive, coz i'm not getting rid of the Commando image..

                        Thanx - Ian

                          try your hdd recording with:
                          ucode_0014

                          in recording settings:
                          2mb ring buffer
                          O_SYNC on

                          in movie player settings:
                          wabber buffer off

I changed to 0014 a while ago & very slight improvement.

Will have a look @ what the other 2 are set @ on Monday, as I am not allowed to play with the D-box while the wife's about..

What area are you in? And can we assume you're running the default 'Enhanced VM EPG' mode? Are you saying that you're getting no EPG at all on more than half the channels- not even Now 'n Next EPG? AL
