Problems getting channels on Dbox

After numerous attempts i've failed miserable.

Do I still need connection to broadband modem???

I 've tried Hyperterminal with null but nothing happens. Everytime I start dbox and press up button, it just freezes.

Apologies for not being so technically minded.

How does the xover cable need to be connected???? How does the router work???? If I know how these work i'm sure i'll get somewhere.

err i think u would know, its a device connected to ur modem for connecting other computers or devices to the internet, a hub, usually with the capabilities to connect wired or wirelessly

well then it's a cross-over network cable connected direct from ur pc network card to ur dbox....know ur pc ipaddress...if not go into command prompt and type ipconfig after the prompt

no, connect xover cable just alter ur network settings1 below or above of ur pc address and use your pc address as the gateway address
