Agree with Satman.
The n3 roll out in Ireland has been planned for months. Its no surprise that it has come. Its taken longer than i think they had anticipated but thats unremarkable for projects in the uk and ireland.
I could be wrong but i still think the uk, as a whole, is a while away from n3. There will need to be replacement cards for all and replacement boxes for many. That will be expensive. Its money vm dont have. They are not naive enough to believe that customers, who are not paying top dollar just now, will automatically stay with them if and when n3 is rolled out.
Said it for years now enjoy it while it lasts. Everyone will have had their moneys worth so you cant complain.Comment

VM announced some time ago that they will switch to an IP based delivery system over the next few years - I doubt they will bother with a switch to N3 in the meantime.
Even if they do change, they would have to issue new viewing cards to all their legit subscribers, this is not a quick job. As we have seen when Sky does a card change, the whole process takes 3 Months or so - and there is no sign yet of this process starting anytime soon.Comment

You have a bad attitude, it's Ireland now but the UK will be in the shit "as you put it" sooner or later.Comment

P.O Box Satman
Scotland

From experiance you may be having a little optimistic thinking...
n3 is no easy fix,,, you may think yeh uk has looads o boxes,
But common mate,,, how many boxes in Germany , Spain and Portugal do you think there are?, ( please remember Germany the home of dreambox,,,,,, spain the home of taquilaa, and portugal the home of Cabo )...
If the cards could bu unloooper or glitched by an amatuer it would have been done in one these countrys long ago.
And,,, to really sound depressing, there all still black some more than a year later.
Sorry,, my bad attitude kicked in again :

Apologies for a very newbish post.
But what exactly is the current story in Ireland? I know people in the Dublin City area with NTL who had engineers out putting in a new cable and the Eurovox Max box went straight away, the orginal NTL box works with the existing card. They have a letter saying new NTL cards will be shipped out shortly.
I'm in the North County of Dublin on what used to be called the chorus and my Dreambox is still working as usual however I am missing some channels (Adult) but the BBC1 seems to come and go as well. Setanta ireland is poxy too.
My question is, are NTL using Nagra 2 at the moment and are very shortly upgrading all channels to Nagra 3? Will my box stop working very shortly but this has a potential fix (nagra 2) but sometime in the future nagra 3 will come in and for that we can't expect a fix?Comment

hi,,
Nag3 is different, there are 2 keys or CW's included in the ECM to the receiver. One goes to the card and the other goes to the receiver itself.
N3 cards are no more secure then N1 or N2. It's the way N3 works, that make far superior than either N1 or N2. So while N3 cards are "worked around" and you can get a dump of the CW's and ECM's you only have half of the equations because you have to be able to process the receivers CW's. Here is the problem running emulation files,,
