It does sound like you have a connection problem. Can you take the splitter out and connect it to feed closest to where it enters the house.

hi guys im an ex sky engineer i can tell you that this problem may be caused by the cable you are using. good quality vm cable will have a foam diallect in it(this is the part in the middle of the cable where the single wire of copper runs up). this type of cable is very expensive but worthwhile especially if your having problems. even sky dont use it cos its so costly. make sure that any bends on the cable run are not too tight and no kinks. lastly make sure that any cable cleats or staples you may have used have not inadvertedly penetrated through the cable and as such will be shorting out the signal. when laying your cable its always worth while using the best cable on the shortest run. hope this helps you all.

I don't think this has anything to do with it, i had the problem some time for months, it v****n changing freq's and installing new servers for the big change to come IPTV they need to align all cable to their system for the digital changeover and upgrade the speed of the internet, why else would they upgrade free from 2meg to 10meg? just google cable forum a browse around. I have posted many times on other threads about this.
        Keep calm carry on.
