Problems with my EX1000SL

Answer some simple questions first.

What device did you buy?

it says NO COM PORT because your PC has no COM port installed (a d-shaped 9pin socket) i PRESSUME you bought a USB to SERIAL COM PORT ADAPTOR - correct? (USB on 1 end, D Shaped 9-pin on other that u can connect you null modem cable to)

Assuming it is this device, when you connect it to your PC - you need to install the DRIVERS to make it ACT like a COM port. Once those drivers are installed THEN you will have a COM port.

The zip file from post 15 of this thread are some drivers for a USB>SERIAL adaptor -but they might not be the one you bought. whatever is that file u downloaded, run it. THEN connect the USB>Serial adaptor

have tried several but does't make ant difference and still coming up with no com port.

it's all vague which makes it difficult to diagnose.

i have got normal channels on now but says scrambled channel.

is that because something hasn't downloaded to the eurovox box??

Hi dude try a different pc. my laptop doesn't have a null socket but my kidz old tower does i used that one with xp no trouble just followed the guide mentioned in ealier postits at the top of the eurovox page.

you're not listening to me or answering any of my questions i'm asking to try and help - you're trying to run before you can walk. you won't be able to decrypt channels till u get the new firmware on. you won't get that on till u can flash it. u can't flash it till u get the USB>COM port adaptor installed so you have a COM port for the flashing software to use.

This was probably my better option until I tried (again) today and it started 1st time to download without me doing anything different?
Currently at the code being updated stage so fingers crossed. Will be back to thank people if is it's worked, if not mmmm.

Stuck again, as I mentioned previously I managed to get a successful download message after attempting to flash the box. Have followed instructions to scan the box but after the step to power scan (which is blue button on my remote and not yellow as described) an information box comes up stating "please wait code being updated" but then the original channels just reapear. Does this mean the box isn't flashed correctly?

Before u scanned for channels did u do a clear data/factory reset?
Did you put in the correct Symbol Rate for your area?
Go ino menu system, what is the software info now?

Eventually got it up and running. Just need to sort the channels into some sort of usable order. Thanks for everyone who tried to help. The main problem was the need to use the USB as a port.
