Answer some simple questions first.
What device did you buy?
it says NO COM PORT because your PC has no COM port installed (a d-shaped 9pin socket) i PRESSUME you bought a USB to SERIAL COM PORT ADAPTOR - correct? (USB on 1 end, D Shaped 9-pin on other that u can connect you null modem cable to)
Assuming it is this device, when you connect it to your PC - you need to install the DRIVERS to make it ACT like a COM port. Once those drivers are installed THEN you will have a COM port.
The zip file from post 15 of this thread are some drivers for a USB>SERIAL adaptor -but they might not be the one you bought. whatever is that file u downloaded, run it. THEN connect the USB>Serial adaptor
