Just wanted to write to thank everyone involved with this. Just ran it on me Dad's 5000pvr and it worked a treat. To say he's chuffed would be an understatement!

I just got the ex1000sl and when i connect it to my computer to download the programme i downloaded as per the instructions it just says that it is waiting for a response from my box can anyone help with this the tec people i bought it off said that the box is not seeing my pc got a new nul cable and still noting

Have the box power switched OFF, run the softwa*e and when message comes, power ON the box.

still the same thing just freezes does it matter which com port u choose it com 3 on it so choose that

What is freezing, at what stage?
The COM ports have to be the same. if its seeing the box on com 3, it should be ok. Try going into device manager of PC and change to COM 1. Its usually OK on com ports 1/4.
Is the cable the right on, it should be the null modem cable.
Are u using a USB adaptor?

yea using a usb adaptor and a null modem cable got it out of maplins they said it was the correct one tried going into device manager but cant find where to change port is

When u connected the USB cable, did the drivers update? did u load the little softwa*e disc?
What OS u running?

when i plug in the usb it it starts to install it and comes back saying that it was not installed so i go in on the disc and it just states it is installed

Leave the USB cable plugged into PC and go into PC control pannel>device manager>look at the USB controllers, it will tell u if its installed proper.
Also there u will see COM & LPT, click the + sign and double click
com port>port settings>advanced, bottom left, select COM 1, OK.
re-start PC, check com port 1 is still selected and try the download again.

there is no com&lpt in the device manager thats what confusing me

U need to make sure the usb cable driver is installed proper, otherwise it will not work.
mabey try to unstall the usb adaptor and re install.
