i had this problem then found i could scan a channel individualy so if one went scrambled i would just scan that frequency which keeps my favourites

you need to turn off fav sort (this is how on a max v)

      Menu/instalation/fast install
      press red button
scroll down to fav sort and turn it off
then press exit (do not press OK) if you press OK all favs order will go back to default order.

also there are two firmwares for your box one has the fav sort option the other is the nosort version which has it permanently turned off

        Quick question.

Any idea how I'd go about scanning for an individual channel on a EX5100 PVR. Every so often 1 channel disapperas and it'd be easier to just rescan for that particular channel than doing a full scan.

when a channel is moved to a different frequency all you get is a blank screen with a message saying something like no signal/bad or scrambled channel etc.
The only way to get that channel back is to rescan or find out off someone in your area what frequency it has moved to
if it is still on the same frequency but somehow its gone blank then you can press the info button twice on the remote and it will show the frequency of the channel
