as the advert says its illegal to receive tv without a paid subscription, so if you just watch the 5 fta channels then no wrong doing being done, if you load your box with firmware scan it and watch football, movies, ~~~~ etc you are breaking the law. dont go down the pub and shout about what you have got and no one is any the wiser as the box doesnt talkback to vm, unless of course you want to phone the number on the security fraud channel

Its not illegal to own the receiver(as long as you dont buy a fake knowingly) It is illegal to modify them and it is illegal to use them A bit of a loophole really

Actually I think it says in the t&c's it's illegal to connect anything to their feed without authorisation.

Yes thats why I said they're illegal to use. No way would VM authorise such equipment

What would they do if I connected a live feed to a toaster? Would it talk back to them? Would I be liable?

So if you say PURCHASE a tesco toaster and PURCHASE tesco bread, and connect it to a tesco electical socket YOU PAY FOR, evrybody's happy

                      BUT....

if you PURCHASED a 2nd hand tesco toaster and used a tesco double adaptor then put MORRISONS bread in the second hand toaster and tied the cable in a knot to stop talk back, is there a problem???
