EX7000 HOW TO GET A GREAT PICTURE quality by adjustment

Recent purchase of a ex7000 the hd quality is OK (not great) but the standard non hd are not good quality.
I found by setting the hd setting to 520p on standard stations it improves the picture quality to almost hd quality, then when you go to hd stations change it back to 1080I, the box is far from perfect and the ex5100 gives a better picture, however if you change the settings as suggested and keep it on hdmi you will get a lot better picture, perhaps better firmware in the future will improve quality, would I buy another no.

I have to say i disagree with that.

I've just tried this and it's definitely better on 1080i.

I'm actually quite happy with the standard picture, and the HD picture is determined by the broadcast, as some will broadcast in better quality than others.

I find that the BBC channel is quite good and ESPN aswel.

yes this is rubbish m8 you only get a poor picture if you have scart and hdmi leads connected if only hdmi connected sd channels are upscaled but yes you need to select 1080 for all

I'm sorry but thats absolute codswallop.
Maybe if you left it on 1080 and changed your hd lead.???
Nothing wrong with the upscaling on the EX7000 HD.

There's your problem....you don't want to be using scart with a HD receiver.

thats because you cant output 1080 over a scart connection

I have to say I am disapointed with pic quality on anything other than BBC HD. I am watching Man u on Es-n HD and it looks no different to what I get on SD. I have a 50" panny that is 1080p. I have a ps3 connected thro 1 hdmi input which gives absolute stunning quality on blu ray 1080p. One of the other hdmi inputs has my ex7000 connected with a gold plated hdmi lead. I have also got my eurovox max v connected via a scart lead linking it via sat quality cable from the ex 7000 out to the max v input. By selecting inputs from tv from hdmi to scart I can compare pics and by selecting pip i.e picture in picture I can compare on a split screen the hdmi pic on hdmi compared to the scart pic from old box. I have asked my dragon to select best pic and she cannot tell differance. Since my TV has a built in upscaler could it be that Esp= and others are only transmitting in 768i which I believe is what my TV upscales to. Bit of a ramble but there is no wow factor in this football match.

dude whats the point in using a scart cable on an hd box go get an hdmi cable and 1080i it mines been on it since january and its perfectly well at upscaling and hd channels are spot on on 46 inch samsung led tv, scart kind if negates the purpose in buying an hd receiver doesnt it

Even if the picture does not look awesome in HD there are more frames per sec so should be smoother. I believe its a lot to do with the broadcasters as I watch ESPN quite a bit. Sometimes the pictures amazing and at other times its hard to see the difference between ESPN HD and standard ESPN.
I've been using HD splitter as my tv has one HD socket. I have recently noticed picture quality is not the same as before. I have taken away the splitter and picture seems to have gotten better.
