    hard drive for ex6000sd

what are the limitations of hard drive for ex6000sd.
ie. whats the max size, do 5400 and 7200rpm drives work ok,
does it have to be ide, or do sata 1 and sata 2 drives work aswell.
never had eurovox before used to dbox2.
    any help
    thanks

You do know the hdd connects via USB right ? i cant imagine it therefore having any limitations other than for larger drives (excess of 500gb)I would probably recommend that they have their own psu and are not usb powered. I might just be havering though thats just my own thoughts.

I don't know personally but I have seen a flashing guide that states the max drive size is 320gb

Was it this one smoggy? It was passed onto me, but looks like a supplier add on doc, given it says box "comes flashed".

Tests were conducted up to 320GB on bus powered drives, but I have also tried a WD 500GB powered drive and it works perfectly well so far.

Sorry I had to borrow one so could not answer earlier.

I tried a powered WD My Book 1 TB. I tested a 1 hour TS from the box and both recording and playback were fine. The drive was empty and I had formatted it to FAT32 beforehand.

I transferred across approximately 250GB of movies, (payback for borrowing it ), to the drive so it wasn't full by any means. But good enough for test purposes I hope.

I converted a couple of avi movies to MPEG-2 and again playback was perfect on the EX6000.

No bother although getting through 1TB of movies will be quite a feat for your young lad

I know I have a son doing exactly the same thing. I blame the parents for introducing him to certain servers
