first you should open the box and on the power supply circuit board look for c14 i think it is written on the circuit board.if the top of that capicitor is not flat and is raised it needs replacing.you can buy an replacement from maplins.if it is flat then jtag it.you can get 1 from tailormade circuits.attaching a guide and software let me know which box it is i will upload file for it

How many times has this been posted, why do people not use the search bar here?? Just replace the cap.

                Red Eurovox = Clone

I be careful flashing a red eurovox as there were a few clones around...check the cable tuner where the coax feed go's in it should cover 8 vents on a genuine red.....if you have a clone and flash the wrong fimrware then you will have to reflash it using the clone firmware fix

also inside the box there is a reset button.... start the firmware download and keep this button pressed while you switch the box on at the mains. works everytime with the symptoms ur having..

step 1 - switch eurovox off at mains--open cover
                2 - start update proccess
3 - depress reset button inside the eurovox
4 - apply power while button is pressed
                5 - release button

                the firmware update will start.

works on eurovox red, blue and max v..

The cap doesnt need to show any visible signs of leakage for it to be at fault. As said its a simple and cost effective way of getting your box back up and running.

You need winrar or any other zip type software to open it. But I can guarantee you it will be the cap, but if you want to go down the Jtag route by all means do. But you will get a DCU error due to the cap fault.

I am only trying to help you out and save you both time, money and heartache. But its up to you to take advice or leave it. My earlier reference to using the search bar was not meant as a slur, but purely trying to point you in the right direction.

Take a look here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ght-only-6553/ it will tell you where to get the cap. You just desolder the C14 cap from the PSU board and replace it with the new cap as indicated in the thread above.

There is a polarity line on both the board and cap just match them up. It will only take a few minutes to do. If you are uncomfortable doing it just bring it to your local TV repair shop and they will do it for you.
