Apologies bad name I suppose Get your firmware for the Max V (18/04/08), Digital Kaos - Downloads - UFL MAX V Kuro3 18408 (works with Cho-us) Unplug the Max V - Hit download on the UFL - wait a few seconds - now plug the EV back in.

It may take a few attempts to get it to load/bootloader to kick in. Worth a go. I had a look at the Hex address you got stuck on when Jtagging and have seen a similar issue before.

As said worth a few attempts nothing to lose.

Hi Satsmo , yes i did try that several times but most of the time it wouldnt even see the com port ! Took the newer type boxes to my friends house and he has ran tests on the PSU difference and wow yes they have put better caps in now so no more C14 going . The motherboards have improved aswell with more expensive components being used ie Heatsink on the CPU .I am not technically minded like him but he said the boxes were built much better now.
He measured voltages on the caps of the motherboard which were not present on the Brick ! He wants me to take the Brick back to his house tomorrow night for another comparison and maybe a fix ! Its a last bid attempt before posting it off . These new boards have no reset switches on the motherboards and they wont take a firmware using Null Modem and Kuro.
I had to just JTAG them with Max V TSOP Flash then do a scan for channels.
To get it to work i had to do a factory default reboot and then scan again. Finally i got the free channels on and then i went into the menu and put the NEW keys in Manually ! Both Boxes are singing now ! I think alot of people could learn from this THREAD as we have covered alot of ground dont you think ? Best wishes from Mentorman

cheers, seems my mate got the box going but only for a day or 2. just tried a rescan as it wouldn't update the codes but its not doing a thing. i dont think it was the latest software he put on. he's on holiday now too so he cant help. what do you need to know?

just came back to this thread for a browse and to re-read it. what you have done with the box without a reset switch is exactly what i have had to do. does this mean we cannot get the newer firmware onto these boxes. if so, how is it they can be so much better? i.e, the components, heatsink etc. many thanks.

Hi CHR15 , i had to just load up the 2008 TSOP using my JTAG which then allowed me to scan for the channels etc. I tried in vain to upload KURO but the box did not see the com port ??????? Next time i get my hands on one of these boxes my friend is going to solder into the motherboard a reset switch and see if that makes a difference ! Having said that the new firmware actually resets the box before upload so i am wondering if it might work on these type boxes ????? Best wishes mentorman

my mate tried doing that by shorting the conections where the reset switch fits, but alas, no kuro. these boxes seem very weird indeed!!!!!!

These boxes are touch and go with power supply and motherboard components . it would be nice if someone could upload the schematics for the boxes or Voltages and amps supply ratings from PSU to MOBO etc. I have two boxes with what seems to be TUNER problems ! One box finds only 18 transponders out of the normal 38 so i only get 139 channels . Tried factory default and tried again but no difference even with a DEEP scan on the latest firmware ! The other one doesnt even give me any FTA channels but both boxes have power to them and scan perfectly ??????????????
