Had a visit from VM this moning

Just to let everyone know i had visit from vm this morning.
i disconnected from them about 3 months ago, they came this morning to collect there old box, luckly i had pulled my starview box out straightaway.
he obviously came in and started to look around regards to wiring. i know what he came looking for really, but he found nothing and was gone.
so just watch out every1, stay alert just in case they do come sniffing on ur doors

They cannot gain entry, only if you let them in. All you have to say its not convinient and give them a time to come back. The only time they can come in without your authorization is when they have a search warrant.

Well if you continued to pay a minimum sub they probably wouldn't have turned up!

I think they rumbled you, as you say you disconnected from VM but still had a Starview box plugged in - they must have checked the greenbox in your street and detected a box plugged into the line but you have no active subscription, are you paying anything to VM for cable tv - sorry but if you are not but using a Starview box you got no sympathy from me, atleast pay a little towards the service or else if everyone pais nothing it would be another ondigital.

Why didn't you tell him to wait at the door and then hand it to him, no need for him to enter your home.

janaid said in his first post that he disconnected 3 months ago, so he is not paying a service. be sure to read the posts first.. And this is not gonna be a witch hunt. Janaid was simply advising that he cancelled his subscription to VM and that he had his own box still connected to the service.. yes we do need VM to be paid to maintain their service this by the by. He was trying to point out that they just turned up out of the blue to collect the box and that the guy was invited into his house then to take it away, he noted the guy was having a subtle nose around the connection (was probably still warm ).

Let it go know and read the other big new stories..

Exactly Devilfish I totaly agree. The Golden rule for using unauthorized recivers on a closed network such as cable service is to always pay for at least the basic package it keeps the wolves fro the door, in all fairness 10-15 quid for a basic package is not to much to ask for considering what you are receiving at the end of the day.

With most Cable company have Phone, Internet & Tv services running through ther cable its possable they can detect activity in areas where there should be none.

janaid1 you should be careful switching your starview back on over the next week of so, especially if they have suspicion that your receiving there services now that they have there receiver back, or pick up any signal if they intend to scan your area over the next few evenings.

                          whats the big story.
if you disconnect they will either arrange to come at a time giving a appointment within 28 days or if no appointment they will come at any time to collect their property.
If you invite them in they will be curious why you have disconnected e.g gone to sky or other and of course potential unauthorised service user.
I would say this is normal and no course of concern. I think there are bigger worries that are out of control that will make these stories a thing of the past.
but to add what last poster said i would be a litte concerned but if the boxes have no talkback they will not be able to tell . They will just switch the ouside connection off and you may not get any signal.
