No Signal

I too have the C-1501 card and DVB Dream. I get "no signal" when scanning channels. Am I right in thinking that I first need to install Vplug (and the keys) before the scan will find anything?

Argggghhhh ! PC crashed and can't get DVBDream to work now! I've had to re-install everything (DVBDream, vPlug and extracted vplugkeys into the plugins folder) but there are 2 things wrong -
1) When I do a scan there is 'no signal' and this I think is related to...
2) When I click on vPlug (Monitor) in the taskbar tray "in use keys" is blank.

I know there have been key changes since I downloaded the files originally but I can't update them because none are showing. Any ideas ???

no signal is a driver/dvb dream issue.

the app will still pick up the chans, but you wont be able to view them without using vplug.

you need to get other issue solved before worrying about vplug

So the key changes don't have anything to do with it ? The vplugkeys download on page 1 is it still ok to use or do I need a newer version of that ? I'll uninstall everything, including the card, and download DVBDream again and vplug - let us know if that file is still ok to use. Thanks.

Hi Biskit, with dvbdream for cable you need to overwrite the 5000.ini file (this is the only transponder file it will use for cable) with a transponder file for your area, I suspect this is the reason you have no signal as it needs to find channels to have a signal . do you have a transponder file for your area or maybe a bruteforce transponder file, also when you install vplug you don't need to give it keys etc, set up correctly (and installed in the correct place) it should pull them from the stream! first get the FTA channels working and go from there.

When I go to do a scan it's searches the transponder file 5044 DVB-C UK (Telewest). I'm pretty sure this was the one which was selected when I had everything running before. I've Uninstalled the card downloaded a clean version of DVBDream and vplug (and tried with / without vplugkeys files) but still getting the same. Did a search for 5000.ini file but couldn't get a hold of one. Any ideas ?

EDIT: I don't remember having to change any transponder files when I originally set it up a few months ago - maybe Bad_Ad could confirm this ?

Ok mate, I use DVBDream 1.4h (not sure about the latest versions) when you do a scan channels/scan it should say "5000 - DVB-C Europe" if not change it to that, this is what the instructions say

"If you want to import another frequency list, don't forget these:
? terrestrial position codes must be between 4000 and 4999
? cable position codes must be between 5000 and 5999
(rename your ini-file 4000.ini for terrestrial and 5000.ini for cable before Ini-Import)

So do this, open your own transponder file with say notepad (I hope you have one) and copy all the text to the clipboard (Ctrl +A) then (Ctrl +V) navigate to the 5000.ini file in dvbdream, my computer/C or whatever letter your hard disk is/dvbdream/transponders/5000.ini. We need to delete all the text in there so (Ctrl +A) then delete at the keyboard. Then (Ctrl +V) to paste the text from the clipboard, then save the file, file/save as/5000.ini

then try a scan!!!!

DVB Dream doesn't seem to find Sky One via a communal feed, I will download this and give it a shot.

Ok another quick update for anybody else stuck with this pci card - Don't use the supplied software apart from the drivers when windows finds new hardware. Download DVB Dream and vPlug (both free) and the vplugkeys.rar file above. Extract vPlug files and vplugkeys.rar into DVB Dream plugin folder (I used 7-Zip cause it's also free !). Run DVB Dream and do a scan - I got all channels using the transponders supplied with the program (including sky1).
