Seems like we have another cactikid fanboy!

Why can't you understand that not everyone wants high end boxes?
So you call a Dreambox 800hd a high spec box do you? That's 25 quid more than a Q5HD.That's my opinion and its my honest opinion. If you want to help you tell him what he can get for under 50 quid? Why you feel the need to bring other members into this thread I don't know. You wont go far with that kind of advice.

Andy i have sorted this, thanks for the reply but sometimes a press of the report button is all that is required. Moderation is one thing we take quite seriously.

Apart from the Amiko which ive been told has a weak cable tuner you're struggling to find anything on the budget you have set aside.
I'm not mocking you but being brutally honest.
Where do you think these Chinese boxes come from? Do you honestly think if you bought a cheap box off fleebay you would get your money back in 6 months?

          Andy
Thanks mate. That does make sense. The box you have seems to have extras. Would you say that is a mid range box? I have looked at the miraclebox and that seems to be mid range to me and have read good things about it. What is your opinion on it?

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I know the most if not all cable/sat boxes come from china but what I was asking wouldnt you buy such boxes from shops in the UK or online and not from fleebay?

Ive had a good look at this box and it ticks all the boxes but looks like quite a new box and the biggest worry with these boxes is "Are you going to get support"
I'm not saying the Dreambox 800HD is the best box in the world but its been around a long time and has lots of support and overall fairly bullet proof.
Work on latest images aren't there what they used to be but Pli seem to still doing work in that area. Another option are the Vuduo range but expect to pay more money. I just think the Dreambox 800Hd at that price offers good value as you can use for sat or cable. The same box and other boxes you see are a lot more money in UK than buying from China. My point is you can save a few quid from China. Yes it might goes tits up but that's the chance you take with anything these days.
As for our friend I'm not sure what planet he's on. Its not the first bad post I've seen and wont be the last. All we can do is give our opinion.
Most will say buy cheap and pay twice and I'm inclined to think the same. Sorry Sats for not reporting the post.

I agree the support of these new boxes can be troublesome.

Is the dreambox you have hard to set up? Plus its a combo which is is good as well.

Ye but if your lucky you could get boxes cheap in the UK like I did for the sat box. But generally boxes here do cost alot compared to getting them from China. So where online can you get these boxes from china and which are reliable as well?

The miracle Box mini HD with combo tuner DVB-S2 & DVB-C/T2 seems to retail at around the ?150 mark has support form thelikes of OpenViv, OpenATV, Egami etc.. so the support is there if a little sparse at the moment with it being quite a new box.

I think Andy's suggestion of a DM800 is a good one especially over something like a Q5 or an Amiko as you can switch back to satellite you would of course need another tuner, Unless you went for the slightly dearer 800se with its 3 in 1 tuner but then your going not very far off the price difference mentioned earlier of around ?25 or ?30 as the Miraclebox Dual falls under that price difference its official not a clone and the official website states you get a 2 year warranty but get that clarified with a UK dealer first.

Also harking back to what Andy said about the DM800 over the Closed source Amiko and Q5 it will be much more than a Cable or Sat box you can install plugins to give you XBMC flexibility and even IPTV channels if you so wish and thats where Andy has hit the nail on the head for ?25-?30 its a whole lot more than just a TV viewing receiver.

I can also see the arguments for the Q5 and the Amiko as these will more than likely be the next OpenBox/Skybox receiver for the Plug & Play Cable brigade who just want to switch on and watch TV, Support is key here and the DM800 cannot be beat the Plugins i mentioned and also not having to wait for a channel list like you do on the Ope/Skybox or even an Amiko list which accounts for thousands of posts in AJ and sattv5's thread, The 800 with cable autobouquets will do it all for you at the touch of a button.

At the end of the day as i said the Plug & Play boys will swamp on the cheaper alternatives but if something changes i can guarantee the Enigma2 800 with its support will be fixed first.

                Regards

Apologies for the LATE reply been having a lot of problems so havent been on here for a long time.

In terms of what you said. What is the difference between DM800 and 800se ?

What exactly do you mean by closed source and are these types of boxes limited to what they can do compared to open source boxes?

Over the months I have found from reviews that for a combo box which isnt too dearer like the vu duo the Miraclebox is a really good box. Would you recommend this box seeing its new on the market?
