It might just be time to use the dodgy receivers as FTA ones or to sell them on eBay.co.uk

On the bright side, you cant say you didnt get your moneys worth(unless you bought it recently)

You can't sell boxes on ebay, they stopped listing them quite some time ago.

If you want to sell, you prob will get someone in the uk to buy, maybe post asking for pm's from interested peeps, (not sure if this is allowed here or not) postage is around ?11 euro a box i believe to the uk.

you can still sell on eBay,but they get removed often and you have to relist often and you get several warnings, but eventually they sell ! Your best bet is to list for 1 or 3 days

In the UK,they have to replace old receivers and they need to pay a lot to replace cards. We should last at least a year after VM say they're replacing old boxes for security reasons They are also in a lot of debt,so the banks may not be willing to help especially since its recession

Back to the Irish issue ! UPC along with Nagravision technicians have been working on this switch over for the past few months, it cost money and hundreds of man hours to compleat ! Neither UPC nor Nagravision are going to spend more time than they have to on the switch to N3 .....

The mojority of the work need to be done is by technicians from Nagravision it is not something UPC's NTL / Chorus technicians can do .....

UPC's only input into this new encryption is any hardware infrastructure cable, transmitters & receivers.... they will have nothing to do with the encryption change ..... As a lot of cable piracy comes from technicians working for cable companys .... Nagravision Know this and for security reasons keep a tight lid on proceedings

Ireland you can all most expect a gradual switch over immently especially with the football season starting and the summer drawing to a close when most people start coming inside to watch tv....

As for Virgin Media they will have no problems securing funding for any upgrade to N3, if it switchs off many hundreds of thousands of pirate receivers, a large precentage of non subscribers will subscribe if cut off boosting revenue, As Virmin Media use N2 already the switch over is easer than in Ireand as there infrastructure was only useing N1 technologue ...

At the moment no Cable nor Satellite provider useing N2 can affort not to switch over to N3 .......

                  Regards:
                  Alun

Well, VM probably have to pay more to switch over and then have to weigh in how much people would stop paying min subs. They would also have to replace a lot of older receivers. And seeing as though the UK is bigger than Ireland, they may have more customers however they also need to pay more to switchover!

Please read through this thread. I googled your town and you live in Ireland. These have gone today and if they go in the future, its time to use your receiver as a door stop

They shall eventually go in other places too. Nothing lasts for ever remember! And there will be NO fix for nagra 3. No one in the world can "fix" nagra 3

                                EDIT: Yet!
