IPTV will not happen due to privacy laws...as i posted in an earlier reply...it uses a VOD type system, the user calls for the stream and the stream is sent via a change of server..this means that the supplier can monitor each users tv habits!...it is not a multi sig stream.
if people are made aware of this then i am sure certain `legal issues` will slow or rule out its introduction.
nag3 is where cable companies will go..its a solid system and has thus far been impossible to de-code.
the pressure from sly to tighten up its leasing to cable companies will force this security in place my January 2010.
this will then make all current open source freeview units `void`...
i would suggest anyone wishing to buy into this must remember it will probably be very short lived....but hey we have had a good run....
Virgin also know that by introducing nag3 it will not increase there much needed customer count...hence why they have been slow to react in previous years.
i called virgin last week as i wanted to know why on my last monthly bill they had added ?1.30 to my bill for `paper charges`...they said it was to encourage there customers to be more enviromental!!!!!!!!...they advised i used online billing to avoid this charge!!!!!!!...
did i see a virgin sticker on the Brawn GP car!!....now i know why i have these silly charges!...if i wasent gettin it free i`d moan alot more......money grabbin bee gee (branson)

IPTV is just a Roumer that has got out of hand on some UK Forums, There is no solid evidence that Virgin will go that route.
Virgin are going to sit on UK legislation which forces Sky to resell there channels to Virgin while they can.
If that changes and sky are allowed remove all there branded channels from virgin, Virgin will have to secure there network, wither with N3 or make a deal with Sky/NDS.Comment

i agree, virgin will not do any drastic changes even if threatened. take the skyone issue. what did vm do. they created virgin1. which i like. they wont be pushed around so i cant see either being intoduced anytime soon. as with iptv, you would just cl*ne mac addresses like with m*demsWavefield Ds 55cm at 13E 19E and 28E receiving everything out there on 2 dm800hd
previous life dm800hd and 500c on cable

I think your wrong m8, no solid proof:IPTV is just a Roumer that has got out of hand on some UK Forums, There is no solid evidence that Virgin will go that route.
Virgin are going to sit on UK legislation which forces Sky to resell there channels to Virgin while they can.
If that changes and sky are allowed remove all there branded channels from virgin, Virgin will have to secure there network, wither with N3 or make a deal with Sky/NDS.
Virgin Media chief executive Neil Berkett told investors last week that he wanted "next generation" delivery and conditional access systems to be rolled out on its network in 2009 and 2010.
He said the ongoing switch-off of analogue cable was part of the process: "Not only do you get the bonding advantages of DOCSIS 3.0 (the cable transmission standard), you get the bandwidth freed up. So in that respect we don't see ourselves as being bandwidth constrained.
"We can see us completing that journey through 2008 and 2009 as well as replacing our television platform in 2009 and 2010, and moving to next generation TV, next generation conditional access systems."
Its a matter when not if, there is no contractual agreement to secure its network with NDS or nagra, one company cannot enforce its will on another or use one system or another - sky are dependant on the revenue from VM, virgin at some stage will break the link with sky as Ofcom has TOLD sky to offload its premium content to other providers as well. I dont see sky telling the BBC what to do. Most of the channels are operated by other companies not Sky sky only carries them by agreement same with Virgin. Virgin are going down the on-demand route by whatever means possible, there is no co-operation between them at all.Keep calm carry on.
