Maybe they're just doing testing as they did with Leeds These cards have been changed before remember, or that could just be when VM took over NTL, C&W and TW
Lose your memory sticks? Forget to backup? Why not get 2GB of free space online, and I get 250MB too

Not much on tv anyway other than repeats and american crap, not worth paying out good money for, film not worth the extra ?20 odd quid per month or sports, can get them on my sat system. Freview and Freesat are the best option as they have and will have more HD channels soon and if you get a third party sat box you can pick up many more channels on the astra bird than Freesat official box.
What they mean by variant is that its still N3 no matter how you look at it however after N1 & N2 were cracked Kudelski have learnt their lesson and have designed different versions of N3. If one provider using N3 is hacked the same info can't be used to crack other providers whereas before all other providers in Europe using Nagra had the same cards which meant they were all hacked.

This tenchnique is used to stop or delay the time a workaround is found and so far it has worked.

I suppose the thing to remember is that the fact they are sending new cards does not mean an encryption change. Im sure i read simewhere that old cards were causing problems with V+ and VOD performance, so maybe thats just it.

This is on their FAQ m8
Why are you sending me a new card?

We're about to upgrade the technology of your Virgin TV set top box so you can benefit from more improvements, more security and more of the good stuff fibre optic technology brings.

thats what vm are investing in, not encryption. they cannot justify the spend

If you're going to send a card to every suscribing home anyway would it be that much more expensive to introduce the new encryption at the same time while you're at it?

How much would Kudelski charge VM to use N3 until IPTV is up and running?

What's the more significant cost - sending cards out or paying Kudelski to use the better encryption technology, bearing in mind that they sold VM a duffer last time and N3 is hardly new?

Not picking an argument. Genuinely curious.
