Nagra 3: How was Nagra 1 & 2 cracked?

Interesting thread; N1/N2 was cracked by the spanish. They did not crack the Algo ( The algo for N1 is stil secure to this day ) ; what they did was find a loophole in the make up of the card and not a way to crack the code on the card. This allowed Keys to be read and the card to be dumped.

Once the tools where there we in the UK used/adapted them for our system.

As for our new encryption its a ROM 180 with an Atmel core - the 1st Nagra card to use Atmel and as such I suppose we could call it N3.5.

Opening a ROM 240 or similar from sat scene would help us in understanding the code structure after disasembly.

However it would not help us in a UK hack as we need the sets of keys off the ROM180 to code up any emu be it on AVR or Linux platform.

The 180 has anti glitch code and RAM that resets if we even sniff at it - so conventional glitching as we know it by faulting the CAM and loading and and payload to zero the bugcatchers alowing us to read in Nagra edit is not going to work.

The only way is to dump the card and thats going to take time and its probably going to have to be a lab and take the ROM apart by de layering it bit by bit. Thats unles we suss out a diff form of attack.

That leaves us with card share which is not a hack and tbh I hate - however it could give us data and help us understand code flow and cmd returns.

For this we need the RSA and pairing code code sets which if we look we should be able to do with a bit of effort.

I think it will take sometime to cracking Nagra 3 Leeds was the first city hit by Nagra 3 !! People tell me its been cracked but Ive not seen any evidence of it working. Friend who's a programmer for sony said nagra 3 to difficult to crack.

well virgins now got a section on their site telling you what to do when your new card arrives so im guessing the rollouts in progress

curiously, it also says if your box isnt legit youl get a message to that effect on screen and you can call them to obtain a legit card for your box with no questions asked, wonder how theyre gonna go about that?

Its been going for about 10 years, had to come to an end sometime. Its all good. Nagra 3 I doubt if it gets hacked publically.

i'm considering joining a pay server...by a guy locally... he doesn't advertise and it would be cash payments.....is this type of server risky...he alreadty claims to have 200 odd 'subscribers'

agree totally, had my boxes for 4 years, so no complaints from me,have paid for basic tv plus , landline, b/b etc. will just have to change my drinking times in the local or watch lfc on the pc, which i've done for 3pm games for a few years now anyway. may have to pay a bit more to let the wife watch "the bold and the beautiful" on ch164 tho'!!! but will not complain......

don't know what all the panic is for it's all part off the game .

one hack ends we move on to something else .

as for c/s on cable yes it will be done wether it becomes public like the sat sence is something diff.

as i see a load off the fta makers moveing in to the sence .

bit like starview and kryptview even eurovox the only problem is they will want you on there server which has been proven already with the release offf the starview6 .

the only problem i have with that is if there server goes down are they are busted you stuck with a doorstop .

so what we need is some one to post the rsa keys for n3 uk cards.
are the how to get them then we can have private servers. but to be honest can't see it happening anytime soon.

because at the minute if you read about the uk forums all you will see is the talk off c/s for sat now with out me saying any thing we all know what sat they mean .
and we also know they not as easy going as cable (virgin) so i expect them soner are later to come down hard on it .

Why would anyone post any sort of a crack publicly?
If they do before full roll out then virmin will move onto something else and again your back to square one!
