        12 months more like it.
UPC have been testing Nagra 2 for nearly 2 years and they started phasing in Nagra 3 in Jan 09.
Vast areas of Ireland on MMDS feeds are still on Nagra 1 and will be for the foreseeable future.
It took them an eternity to roll out Nagra 3 .

No he aint! he is living in his bunker, protected by 18 inches of concrete and Stella lining.
And as coincidence would have it, he makes cuckoo clocks for a hobby.

Oh Well, all good things come to an end ! I will either add to my sub or change to sly. The only good thing is the free tv mob will have to pay for either service.

The long awaited roll out of Nagra 3 by Virgin Media to encrypt their cable services has begun, with Leeds being the first area of the UK to be upgraded to the new system.

According to reports, it will be rolled out across the South of England over January, the Midlands by February, and the North West of England by March. By Easter, all of Virgin Media?s cable services should be running with Nagra 3 encryption.

This will make it virtually impossible for anyone to view premium cable channels broadcast by Virgin Media except by legitimate paid subscribers, resulting in a serious blow to existing cable pirates.

The news has long been expected, after Nagra 3 was rolled out in the Republic of Ireland earlier this year, and hardware upgrades to allow for it to be rolled out in the UK have been sent out through 2009.

While cable pirates will no doubt be disappointed that their favourite premium cable channels will no longer be available for free, Virgin are offering two months free upgrade on their TV services to new and existing customers.

If cable services are no longer wanted, then Sky has been providing special offers on Sky + and Sky HD for the Christmas season to bring in subscribers to premium channels.

Of course, there are also options to use Freeview, Freesat, or even use satellite equipment to explore the range of Free To Air (FTA) channels, which do not require subscription services.

In the meantime, when approached by Techwatch for comment, a Virgin Media spokesperson replied ?We do not comment on security issues.?
Lucky Scotland. No mention of them. Lets all move to Scotland

Hmmmm A little birdie tells me that the full switchover wont happen until next summer and, by then, a nice new solution will have appeared, this will involve a new dongle for all the current USB and RS232 boxes. I wouldnt worry too much yet people. Although sorry if you are in leeds

Mate you are talking crap, the big satellite boys have been trying for ages and theres much more money in satellite hacks. All cable probably hack free by the financial year end of Apr 4. Only way forward is cs and the old boxes eurovox etc will be dead and gone.

If the makers of the Eurovox wanted to they could revive the boxes for card sharing purposes but I don't think they will do it. They will most likely cut and run or introduce a new box for this purpose.
