The following areas are due to go Nagra 3 at any point now.

        Taken from Virgin Media forum.

Important: Have you swapped your TV smartcard yet?

last edited on 18/02/10, 05:52 PM

Virgin Media has started to send out new smartcards to its TV customers, currently we're sending them to customers in Watford, Seven Kings, Kirklees, Wessex-Poole and Ashford. The new smartcard is easy to swap with the old - find out how at Switching your Smart Card.

The new smartcard is important. It works differently to the old card, and uses newer technology which will form part of a range of exciting new digital TV services from 2010 and onwards, including more HD channels, new TV on demand features and of course we?re also working on integrating TiVo into our TV service too!

Customers in the Watford, Seven Kings, Kirklees, Wessex-Poole and Ashford should have already received their new cards (or will be recieving them soon) and it?s important your old card is swapped out as soon as possible. Over the next few days, in the regions listed, we?ll be turning off some of the older TV signals on our network so if you haven?t swapped the card yet, please do so as soon as you can to ensure an uninterrupted service.

If you are in the Watford, Seven Kings, Kirklees, Wessex-Poole or Ashford areas and think you need a new smartcard please head to Switching your Smart Card and check our frequently asked questions (FAQ).

If you?re not in one of the regions listed, don?t panic, everyone will be getting a new smartcard. We?ll be going around the country region by region as we upgrade our TV service, and we?ll be in touch by post when it?s your turn. In the meantime, don?t worry there won?t be any changes to your TV service until that time.

If you?re not currently a TV customer, there?s no better time to join! See what you?re missing at See what you're missing - Virgin Media great TV and check out our special offers at Virgin Media Special Offers: - Great savings on broadband, mobile, phone & TV.

            Liverpool

Manchester (I know this has been posted differently elsewhere)
Hartlepool (expected to be same for Middlesbrough)

Areas may go to 3.7 but this doesnt mean that your area will be gone in a few weeks. We are looking at anything upto 12 months for total rollout
sorry dude but I think your source is providing you with the wrong info I would say

they wiped Leeds, harrogate, yorkshire and few other I would say... within a month... Once they receive that card... you will need to replace it within 24 hrs or watch a blank screen

So when it states up that that new cards are being sent out... believe it or not they are coming and soon to be hitting your letter box I would say.

Article from techwatch stated which was from VM and the CEO that by End of march or even many April all peeps who got a dodgy box will be seeing a Blank screen

according to that Article from ''sakiblateef'' well you cant say its not coming now. Sorry dude alot of people spread rumours of this and that and that it will last this amount of time and so on... Its all ''romours'' Official site (VM) have stated that new cards will arrive and will need to be changed if you want your viewing intact.

Once that software upgrade is done on the sub boxes to 3.7... they wil fill the posts man bag with and Envelope and a new smart card... and then they will be hitting peoples letter boxes like flies

6 months ??? you gotta be having a laugh dude

Does the new card mean an immediate loss of free channels? My dad is in West Lothian, Scotland. He has a message on channel 999 on his V box telling him smart cards are coming soon, so will he lose all free channels as soon as he inserts it? I don't have a lot of knowledge on the subject! Trying to get my head around Nagra 3.... Are the new cards Nagra 3???? Sorry if I sound like a dumbass!
