is it my fault they're unqualified or untrained? rude? it's ****ing rude to send an unqualified person to fix a repair - of course i have right to complain. wasting my time AND money. it's disgraceful.

As for the comment about 'why can't some one write something to make it work' - have you tried it? you think they'd roll something out that was that easy. don't you think they're learnt their lesson, know how the N1/N2 glitch works and employ procedures to make sure it doesn't happen again. Cards are tied to boxes, codes change constantly, you can't glitch the card like you used to do, there's currently no way to even get certain details from the card to even make a start on.

I am pretty sure its down to the Employer to ensure that the person is competent enough to do there job..That applies to every employer out there. All you can do is complain to vermin media if you are not happy with the service you get from them....Apart from that there are other internet service providers out there ?? I am also very angry with the service that i get from vermin media, especially when you end up talking to a woman somewhere in a cattle shed in India.....If i get too miffed about a service i get, i take my business elsewhere.

i agree they shouldn't employ monkeys - but if they had any sort of pride in their work they should want to be better, learn the trade they've been employed to do, try to get good at it. it's all too easy these days to blame someone else - no responsibility.

my main reason for staying with VM is their broadband. TV is secondary for me as i download most things i want to watch these days.

VM customer service is really a massive joke. I phoned technical support in India, and the lady asked for my password so I gave it. She said to me "thats wrong" So I checked with the family, and it was indeed right, so I rang up again(and got through to a British advisor), and they sorted me out in 2 minutes

With the indian lady, she even told me that I had my name and address wrong!

When we signed up for BT, I was put through to Indian customer support but this time, there were only a couple of accent problems but it was sorted in 2 minutes

The BT installer that came around, made a nice job of the wiring but knew nothing about anything else! I would have thought that he would have some technical knowledge but he had none

I asked him if he knew about DD WRT etc... (and explained what a bridge was) His reply was "we havent been trained on it"

Though Im saying this, he was a nice guy and got us sorted in about half an hour. He just did not know anything else, except for how to install a phone line
Lose your memory sticks? Forget to backup? Why not get 2GB of free space online, and I get 250MB too

i wouldn't have expected an BT installations engineer to know about some random 3rd party software that runs on routers.

Thats the comparison, you pay your money and you take your chance with everything you buy...Including services from multi billion ?? empires like vermin media. I ended up reinstalling all the work they did, as i was not happy with the installation. I think the main problem here is that so many people are very bitter towards vermin media because their boxes have gone off....You should of got rid of it months ago ( just like i did ) and made a few quid out of it before you had a expensive doorstop
all i was trying to say, mate, was you could pay for the best tyres in the world, but if your brakes are ~~~~ed , then so are you...

So to sum it up we all agree that virgin craftsmen are cowboys because they are paid peanuts, have no pride what so ever in their job, are not willing to take the job serious because of their pay situation, are overloaded with work because they have no intention of taking their job serious thus they are not competant to carry out the allocated amount of calls, do not listen when being trained as their mate who already works for virgin says " ~~~~ the customer just chuck it in and get a signature"... All of us who have run dodgy boxes and are now subject to nag3 have already installed our own cables and extensions and I think we all agree that if virgin were coming to do a full installation you would not let the idiots passed your front door....chuck

Actually, we had VM come over, as the installation was free(we already had TV) , and we would have to pay for a tacking gun and for the wiring.

The guy did do a good job, but what I tend to do is watch them in the room when they're there. You do get a lot of cowboys in the trade!

[QUOTE=ManofScience;641747]have to agree with the comment on engineers - they're only called engineers because they drive a van with tools in. All of them without exception are nuggets who plug boxes in, change some menu settings and nowt much else. If anything major happens, they come, check connections then leave saying "someone wil be back later" or something. i hate to stereotype - but they're all goons.

the "goons" are actually install techs and only deal with probs inside houses or from the house to the cab in the street. the network is handled by network engineers that means all telephony and catv from the headend to the cab in your area but not your house.the network guys arent "goons"
not to be pedantic of course.
