    ### New Keys are HERE!!! ###

Ok folks, don't exactly know what's going on today. Is it a genuine problem with VM? Have they changed the keyroll method? I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

There's a PC application that will give you the keys and they work.

The keys are not auto updating for me so manual entry of the keys is required. Either FTP to the box and edit the /var/keys/Keylist.txt (evocamd) or /var/keys/Softcam.Key (mgcamd) file with the new keys or use Tuxbox Commander or another plugin to edit them. The files will most likely have more than one line of keys, the top two are the ones in use, you can delete all other lines. In the KeyMaster application, there is a space between each set of two characters, there should be NO space in the keylist.txt file, it should be a continuous line of 16 characters (0123456789ABCDEF).

Using the KeyMaster application, the keys still need to be updated by someone at the other end, it's not an autop update program so if they are not workig, give it time, don't be posting that it doesn't work.

If you can manually edit the keys on your box, you'll be ok for the short term.

More info when we get it.

EDIT: There is also an automatic key updater for those who have direct ftp access to their box, two clicks and the keys are updated.

    Njoy!

        Hi Devilfish,

Might have slipped your attention, but the Dreams have an AU function which overwrites the correctly entered keys. Which file and setting do we need to change in order to get this up and running and not overwriting the keys?

Well remembered JohnO! People using the Digital Kaos image on the DM500 won't need to worry about this, it's already set.

To disable the AU on Dreambox and Dbox2:

These are the config files that control the emu.

                evocamd - camd_cfg
                mgcamd - mg_cfg
                gbox - gbox_cfg

What you're looking for is a section of like this...

                Code:
                 # AU
                # 00 is ignored (default)
                # 01 enable AU
                # 02 AU Auto
                A: { 02 }
The number inside the { } is what you want to change.

{ 00 } - the emu will never auto update
{ 01 } - the emu will auto update whenever it sees keys, regardless if they're correct or not. This could be the reason if you are editing in good keys but it still won't work.
{ 02 } - the emu will only auto update if the current keys don't work.

{ 02 } is what it should always be set to. So it will try your good keys and it should work so there's no need to auto update.

If you edit the config file, you need to restart the emu. Do this either by restarting the emu via the Blue button menu or reboot the box.

Also just to clarify, these are the different key files that the emu uses...

                evocamd - keylist.txt
                mgcamd - SoftCam.key
                gbox - nagra

                Hope this helps.

You need to wait until a new firmware is released. That's the problem with closed source firmwares, only the manufacturer can update it.

Damn that sucks. Will we have to update the firmware reguarly? Or will this not happen again for a while?

                        Thanks for the help.
