so you have the feed coming into a double splitter, then each of the 2 cables ( 1 to KV and the other to Tivo ).

also do you have an 2 ethernet cables 1 for each box, direct to your router ?

it sounds like your KV is taking over the main signal, therefore knocking off the Catch up TV service to you KV.

I aint clued up on the tivo, but does it 2 connections on the tuner, i am thinking maybe on the "out" connection on the Tivo to the "In" connection on the KV.

Do you have a cable feed in a different room ?

either way someone on here will get you sorted.

hence the question what way have you got your boxes setup as splitting cable signal to other boxes level falls.

Found out its a tripple splitter. Feed in going to router, tivo, kv.

now i wonder did vm put an attenuator on his cable to drop signal and if removed may higher up signal,or may need a booster.

That would depend on how many items from VM he had originally as in Router Main Tivo and possible extra Multiroom box which would mean .db levels would have already been raised or may need raising from the Cab

something like this could do the job as it also has variable gain control

                        Code:
                        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cable-TV-Broadband-Amplifier-Signal-Booster-with-Active-Return-for-Virgin-CATV-/230854379790?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
