Tried that cacti but still didn't work it scans and finds the channels but when you go to view channels it says scrambled channel so not got a clue. Called vermin and they say everything is all ok. When they installed my broadband am I correct that tv and broadband come down the same cable?

bb works ok as you split the signal on main coaxial as one side into cable box other to router -lan- box.
if box scans 300 odd channels its not connected to lan network.

box needs a permanent coaxial feed and a lan feed to work so yes it needs connecting to router/hub.
