Can anyone recommend this box? is it easy to flash

Hi, i'm a user of this box and feel it's important to give a critical review- so here goes.

In my opion:
Firstly I'm yet to find a firmware that supports the pvr functions in a stable mannor.

secondly the EPG(Electronic program guide) isn't brilliant- one annoyance about it- is the fact it takes about 2mins to load when you click EPG- you basically can't see what's on tv until you do that.- also you can't watch a channel- in full screen and look what's on the others.

ok- here's some good points
-I think for the price it supports a lotof things!- loads of inputs/outputs.
-USB is very nice- very easy to flash. And it is a pvr!

i've had mine for about 3 months now and its been on 1.07 since then and i'm still considering whether or not to update to this version.

if it aint broke dont fix it sort of comes to mind...

Correct. If you're in UK or Chorus cable don't attempt to change F/ware
The 1.07 is the most stable fix for Stavu4. If you're in N2 region you have
2 choices; Change box or move house

I dont seem to be able to view anything other than crappy channels with v 1.12...i have done a factory reset and installed the software, switched off anbd then on after a pause... still the same...my box died earlier today, is there a newer version or is 1.12 the latest...sorry first time so im thick !!

hi there i have noticed v1.12 is out for the starview 4 super usb im in the uk the land of the oatcakes anyway im running on v1.07 and was woundering if it would be ok to put v1.12 and wot would be the benifits in doing so??? thanks :-)

As of the 17/08/'09 looks like N*L areas of Ireland have started to shift over to Nagra 3 and this firmware does not clear N3 channels.

Does this mean irish ones wont work or will the update help me....... lost $ki channels will this bring it back, im kinda new to this but thanx anyway

V1.12 is recommended by the manufacturer. V1.07 works fine but they still recommend updating.

i`ve downloaded and install this new software and as Satsmo says it does`nt make a difference to irish users, however if whatever stations are gone to nagra3 will this mean new boxes or can they work around it with new software?
from what i`ve heard about nagra3-it`s a very secure network.!!!
