The Box Super USB V1.12

Am i doing something wrong? I downloaded the software to my mem stick placed it into the box, went to usb on the menu. There is only one file on the stick i ckicked on it and a warning came up on the screen saying "it is not a file of the IRD" and wouldnt load.......................help

Looking around this thread everyone seems to be saying that if your in the UK, to not bother with this version and stick with 1.07.

Why won't this one work in the UK?

The thing is, I'm on NTL and currently using ver 1.10 and haven't had any problems with it.

The only thing I find annoying is that when you enter the EPG after switching it on, it automatically starts to do a full EPG download which takes ages, and if you exit the download before it's completed, it clears all the listings that were already there....

With the previous FW version I was on, I would hardly get any listing in the EPG even after a full download.

I'm hoping this new one won't invoke the EPG download automaticaly, but only when I tell it to.

with 1.07 u have to press a button for it to download its not automatic like 1.10 must be then

Actually, what would be perfect is if it could just download EPG updates silently in the background whilst your watching a program.

Some kind of EPG date or version checking might be needed in order avoid constantly downloading the same data.... something similar to downloading virus scanner updates..

New to the site

Is Starview the same as THE BOX SUPER USB kinda confusing with these things. ive had one last few months but all my movie and sports channels are gone and my mate told me this is a great site for help and info.

Hi all, first post here, have recently got involved in the world of starview and have just stumbled upon this helpful site

After succesfully installing the new firmware V1.12 on my TheBoxSuperUSB, I then installed the logo file. After it automatically rebooted, the screen turns green and I am asked to choose a language.
If I try to re-install the v1.12 firmware( also tried V1.07 ) I receive an error "it is not a file of the IRD"

I copied the firmware file to the root of USB stick, powered off the Box, inserted the USB stick and then switched on.
Again I am asked to choose language, and then when usb is selected and I try to install the firmware, the same error appears.

Any ideas or suggestions ?

Boot sequence is as follows -
Power on
88 88
88 82
b-01
Green screen
Language select
(logo does not display at any point)


I managed to do a automatic scan and it populated, but when I change channels etc, I can hear the channel but the picture is not displayed.
If I change channel the screen displays a scrambled image.

I am getting exactly the same apart from the end result. I still only get channels 1 to 5. All of the premium channels show the $ sign but I can't view them or hear any audio either. I am concerned about the 88 88 and 88 02 sign as I have read these are associated to errors that lead to bricking boxes. Can someone shed some more light on this? Am I doing something mega wrong? Or should I just follow that dummies guide on here with fw version 1.07?

Just wondering if this will help mates box . all pay channels went off last week in Coventry. Cant remember what firmware hes got on it but I think its 1.07. Anyway have emailed him 1.07 and 1.12 and asked him to try both.
Anybody else had probs with pay channels in Coventry lately?
