But some channels are missing.

This is not a encryption problem, as the FTA BBC news is one of the channels.

On the previous firmware I could goto manual search, select the the frequency of the missing channels, and change the QAM to 256, then search, and the channels would then work.

It doesn't seem to find them in this version.

I have tried auto search with 64 & 256 QAM, but this doesn't work either.

Has anybody got any suggestions ?

My conclusion is QAM 256 is not working correctly in the new firmware.

guys this does work if it does not connect automatically just power down the box manually, wait several seconds and power back up!
The answer to the question about "is this update a must" YES. as people will find that the previous smgo will become disconnected in the coming days!

Regardless of what other people may say THIS IS A FACT!!!!

also there is no loss in picture quality with this update! if anyone is experiencing poor picture quality my advise is "should have went to spec-savers :-D

can you watch a different channel while recording? ive got a 1.0gb usb stick how many hours would i be able to record on it? thanks in advance!! and thank you for all the hard work you guys are putting in

My conclusion is QAM 256 is not working correctly in the new firmware.

I have found that I can get the QAM 256 channels, by auto scanning with QAM set to 256, but I then lose the QAM 64 channels.

I can then swap this around by auto scanning with QAM set to 64, then I lose the QAM 256 channels.

The problem with this firmware, is the manual scan doesn't seem to do the QAM change correctly for a given frequency.

Which means you have no way of receiving both QAM 64 & QAM 256 channels, without a rescan.

If anybody knows the sv team, can they ask them to look at this, as I am sure it is just a simple problem, that has been introduced in the latest firmware.
